Rand al'Thor; was thinking about this... character, this contains a LOT of spoilers, LAST WARNING!
Hes supposed to be the 'Dragon Reborn' right? that means hes got that crazy guy, (lol) Lewis whatshisface, the original Dragon in his head, (yes this DOES have a point, Ill get to it, if you'll let me...). So he 'merges' with the Dragon. (we'll get back to this) Now lets a look at his 'liniage'. his father was some Aiel clan cheif guy, and his mother, a Andorain gal, (RJ hints very strongly at this,) of the nobiltity, I forget her name, T something... I was wondering, COULD Rand possibly be a "CHILD OF THE DRAGON"? that would make *some* sense in a warped kind of way... I know that lewis was called Kinslayer by RJ, but somewhere in one of the bks, there IS a refereence to 'Children of the Dragon', and I dont mean the Aiel; I think its in bk 5 somewhere... I think its entirely possible that Rand is a direct desendant of Lewis whathisface, I also think that RJ WONT kill off Rand, becuase, he MAY be the Dragon Reborn, whos prophised to die, but he is ALSO Lewis thingy, who is the 'true Dragon'. now since rands 'clensed' Saldin he wont go crazy right? So he can live to fight 'Tai Shain' or whatever-his-name-is. I hope that Kinslayer will be killed again, leaving Rand to lead a normal life. after he defeats the dark one of course. and he will deafeat him, cause if u read the end of each bk, theres a bit of writing from 'Age 4' and the bks are all set in 'Age 3'. well thats just my thought on the main Character, what do the rest of you think? lol, maybe someone should do the other chars too. hahaha. sorry just had a funny thought; it would be amusing to build up a profile of all major WoT characters...

It has been a while since I read those books, so I have forgotten much of it, but the core of his novels is the Wheel of Time.
This is what I guessed from his books so far. (It has been a while, so it won't be very accurate, but you will get the main point). Before I start, I forgot the name of the Forsaken's boss, so I will call him the "Dark one". In the first age, Both side side of the True Source where pure, and the Dark One was sealed in some kind of pocket dimension. And people had no idea what a war was. Then, the woman now know as Lanfear, along with some other people, released the Dark One, this had the effect of starting a war, Lews Terrin Tellamon (something like that) took 100 of his fellow saidin user, Defeated the dark one and resealed him, but in a weaker prison. This also had the effect of currupting Saidin. Years later, The Dark one's prison weaken, so the forsaken are able to free themselves, this is where the novels start. Some time later, Rand, in a big ritual, manage to clensen Saidin. So you see, many time in the novels themselves, and sometimes in the intro/endings, Robert Jordan tell us how the people have forgotten much about the other ages, and the Wheel will Turn for Eternity. He also tell us that every time The Wheel complete a turn, the story repeat itself, and how at first what is Actions become stories, and stories becomes legends, legends become myth and are forgotten. So my guess is that Rand will defeat the Dark one and all his forsaken, this time completely resealing the Dark One in his Pocket Dimension, will unite the world and peace will last for a long time, this will be a new golden age, people will rediscover what they forgot about the True Source, and everything will be perfect, until a woman and some of her friends will find a strange place, where saidin and saidar are as one, and they will begin trying to breach throught that place to access that strange power... Edit: As for Rand himself, it has been hinted that he most die, but I do not believe that, the hints given are too big, where would be the surprise? But then again, maybe Robert Jordan knew we would be thinking this, and so he will really kill Rand... [ 06-22-2002, 02:41 AM: Message edited by: Luvian ]

Some notes on the Age of Legends and The Fall to Shadow.
The Age of Legends was a time of compleate peace. Aiel were the servants to the Aies Sedi. They could not use weapons or harm someone in anyway. Technology was hugely advanced. They had shocklances (laser like things??) and hovering ships and cars. The One Power was used by both males and females which helped everything and everyone. The Aies Sedi were the scientists and invented most technology and were the peace-keepers. Farming was simple with the help of Ogier "seed singing" and Nym (ya know the Green Man) plus the Da'shain Aiel focusing the One Power to insure perfect growth of ever "sang" field. Crops were immune to blight and impervious to insects. So of course food was not a problem in any way. Lanfear (who was known as Mierin Eronaile at the time) and several other Aies Sedi scientists had discovered another source that BOTH men and women could tap. However, it was outside the pattern. So they decided to bore through the pattern to it. They were inside the floating globe, Sharom, in the city of V'saine, home of the very renowned university of Collam Daan. The Sharom, a floating globe, was the center of reasurch. Mierin (Lanfear) Beidomon (another Aies Sedi) and other Aies Sedi used the One Power to bore a small hole to the other power. The resulting backlash of energy destroyed the Sharom, shattering it and the backlash created ripples in the fabric of reality from the breach in the pattern. Unknowingly Mierin and the other Aies Sedi caused the Dark One to touch the world. The hole they created was later known as... The Bore. The Dark One acted quickly. To a world with almost no crime he did what he could (as he could not escape through that small hole) which was touch the lives of others and touch the pattern with his taint. The Dark One altered everthing he could causing envy, greed, and anger where originally there was happiness. Chaos came from everwhere and for years no-one knew why. But soon some people discovered what was happining. Aies Sedi found out what they could gain if they helped the Dark One escape. They became Dreadlords. People from all walks of life joined his side. And caused a period of increasing dark chaos that lasted from about one hundred years after the Bore to one hundred and ten past the Bore, and was known as "the collapse." Finnaly those who were loyal to the Dark found their time to act. In one swift stroke they atempted to free the Dark One compleaty and take controll. This was the beginning of the War of the Shadow. In ten years war was rediscovered and re-learned. Many times twisted by the Dark. Terrible constructs of evil assulted, in response jo-cars were armored and fitted with weapons, hoverflies were altered into deadly flying machines, shocklances and other tools of long distance destruction were built along with a good set of body armor. Sports such as swordplay (which used to be a form of exercise) was reinvended as a deadly martial art. Children from the age of ten were trained to be soldiers, and the One Power was used as a weapon of mass destruction, including Balefire... After years of bloody battle Lews Therin, The Dragon, came up with a plan. He and an entire circle of men and women, the most powerful circle ever made, were to go to the site of the bore and seal it. The women, lead by Latra Posae Decume opposed it, saying it was too risky and decided to go for a plan that included two huge sa'angreal to destroy the evil. The Hall of Servents was divided. Just as the sa'angreal were finnaly compleated, disaster struck. The ter'angreal required to use them were being made at a place far removed from the sa'angreal because of "uncontrolled resonances during the final stages", and the area where the ter'angreal were, fell to the shadow. Again Lews Therin argued for his plan, but Latra maintained her position. And most of the women who had pleged to Lew's plan, left. While attempting to hold of Sammael, Demandred and Be'lal struck heavily (and unknowingly) close to the location of the sa'angreal. By now the light was losing so badly that the best they could do was hold off the shadow. Dispite these events Latra stayed agianst Lews, and soon he set off for his own, causing the Dark One to be imprisoned and causing the destruction of what was left of the Age of Legends... Some notes on Lews Therin being Rand's very distant relative. Maybe... I'm not really sure, and its been a while since my last readings of the books. Obviously he couldn't be more directly related to Lews because Lews killed his wife and children, unless of course Robert J. hasn't mentioned something yet. (very possible with that guy. ![]() On another note Rand's mother was the heir to Andor who left which left Andor without a Queen which therefore caused Andor's Civil war causing the new Queen to be Moragsse(sp?), Elayne's mother. Which, in truth makes Rand very high ranking in Andor hierarchy. (Well at least he WOULD have been anyway. I'm not sure if Andor's government will achnowledge somebody who abdicated her throne. Or if they would accept a child.) But of course this dosn't make Rand heir, because of Andor's Queen only government. ~Sir Mandorallen~ [ 06-23-2002, 01:58 PM: Message edited by: Sir Mandorallen ]

Calaethis, you're right. I looked over my post agian and it was too blunt. I just meant it to give some info from the Age of Legends, and the seconed part was kinda, um... not nice at all. Its been a while since I last read book five, but I'm sure you're right. I think I may have to re-read the series agian.
When I get book five back from my friend, (who is borrowing it cause I told him how good the series was) I will look into it. Until then I want to say sorry for that rather mean response. I'm gonna edit it. I want to apologize for that post, I ussualy don't post like that. It was real straight forward and someone can easily take offence when I meant none. I'm sorry. ~Sir Mandorallen~

Hey dont worry man, I didnt take any offence at it; Im not actually sure if it IS bk 5, it maybe bk 6, or something.... yes I know that RJ IMPLIED the lews kinslayer wiped out all of his family, but I get the feeling one or two MAY have servived, an odd sentace, or a paragraph somewhere in either bk 5 or 6, about 'decentdants of the dragon'. I maybe wrong, but it seems to me just the kinda thing RJ would do, I mean rands linage is already screwed up big time... I mean come on, hes got 'Aiel' blood in him, AND royal Andorain blood, its just the kinda thing RJ would to, to make him a child of the dragon as well, a decendant or something. well thats just my opoinon.

Rand al'Thor: HUGE SPOILER! (btw if you hadnt guessed that by now, what are you doin on this thread?!)
OH YES! this is great! BOOK 7, page 584... if you cant be bothered to look it up, I'll just copy the important bits... "'Will you tell me about those viewings, now?' 'Rand you should study what they're like before you-' 'The viewings?' She folded up her arms and frowned up at him though her lashes. She chewed her lip and frowned at the door. She shook her head amd muttered under her breath. At last she said, 'There is only one, really. I was exagerating. I saw you and another man. I couldnt make out either face, but I knew one was you. You touched and seemed to merge into another and...' Her mouth tightened worrildly, and she went on in a small voice. 'I dont know what it means, Rand, except that one of you is going to die and the other one doesnt'" there! what does *that* say to you? if I've read that properly, it means that lews is gonna die again, and Rands gonna survive! hehe. IMO anyway, I hope its so, Oh and I found another good thing too, about MORAINE! lol, also Book 7 page 603, Chapter 35. "A tiny stab of guilt made her shift her seat on the coverlet. She had not really lied when he asked what viewings she had kept back. Not really. What good to tell him he would almost certainly fail without a woman who was dead and gone" Now that says to me MORIANE! in big bright letters, what about you, I think shes gonna be brought back! *mutters darkly* she'd better be brought back... I didnt buy all 9 books only to see the shadow win... well thats my little talk for Rand for a few days. If I find anything eles I'll let you know.. (lol this time I bkmarked the pages...dont wanna lose them again heh) ![]()
