I have a 1.9Ghz Sony Laptop which I run for the server sometimes, and I left the sucker on for 3 days straight (I do this all the time) for EfU when I am working on the Mod on my MAIN PC, anyway, it won't even boot to CMOS. I did a search on no booting, and found some RAM issues but I tried the swap out, even removed all the stuff-even the HD and it still won't boot. I got it 2 years ago, and KNEW it would die sometime, so I bought that extended warrenty where they swap it out with a brand new one of equal price if it's something they can't fix easy. SO.. I looked on the website, and for what I paid, I can now get a 3.4Ghz LAPTOP and 128 RAM, and get this-- it has COMPOSITE OUTPUTS for HD TVs!

Oh yeah, and god hates me or the planets aligned or some shit, because the same time I bought this Laptop, I bought the HD TV (51 inch) and IT IS acting up--two things I got at the SAME MONTH two years ago.. each have huge warrentys to replace them--and the TV is in the process of being fixed--its a minor screen shake.. I bought these when Microsoft wanted to buy the name IRONWORKS and at the last second backed out--after I changed all my website logos and shit, so for my 'troubles' they gave me $7000. Some of it I saved, and the rest, I NEEDED the laptop for work sometimes, and the TV, well shit, I'm a guy, and a big screen is the dream

Anyway, I'm just pissed. argh. I'll be running the server on the main PC until I get stuff fixed.

PS: Did you notice more than normal lag this past 4 days? I did, and it must have been the laptop dying, because usually after a reboot, it was smooth and fast, but it stuttered a lot more to me than normal.

NOT NOW! We're on a Alienware BEAST!

Man Z thats no good. Though it is good to see that you can get it replaced easy.

Is your laptop faster than your main PC?

Have you considered always running EfU from the Main PC and doing all the work on the Lapop instead of the other way around?

That's a bit of a pain, but you do get a brand new laptop and the TV's fixable. Who gets the bits that still work from the laptop with these warranty agreements? As for lag I can't help you with information (I haven't played for days), it was awful at the weekend, but that may have just been sorted by Durnan's new trading system. I was there earlier today and it was trading heaven creating a new character.

Er, just one tiny thought, have you backed up the latest version of the module? Preferably in an off site location. There's probably other stuff there to backup too. Bad stuff seems to come in threes, dunno why? I don't know what your order of evacacuation in the event of danger is. Maybe Choc, Alienware PC, Choc (beause cats do stuff like that), other stuff until you're restrained.

I hope you get things sorted, you should be happier with a better laptop.

God guys, what is SO spooky is that 20 mins BEFORE the laptop locked, I thought "I better move the server vault files over the the main PC and run the server on it and since the laptops been on for days.. Thank GOD, because after I did that, 20 mins later, it died.

The Laptop won't even post, so the tech and I believe it's the main motherboards power supply--since I was leaving it on for days -- didnt' tell them that though.

I don't think that laptops are designed for being on for days, too many hot bits being close together. Hmmmnnn, too many similes spring to mind...

I found an IDE Laptop to IDE Desktop adapter!!!! Only $7!!!! Woo hoo!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...495293830&rd=1

Awesome! I am saved!

Now to work on the mod!

I am going to try to run the Mod on my Ironworks Forum server (only when I am working on my mod). It's VERY fast like my Alienware, but it's my AMD Machine.

Glad you got your problems sorted out for $7.

It was probably for the best that you did not have to take on an upgrade.

My PC died about 3 weeks ago and I have had to replace it. Unfortunately NWN seems to have some problems running with my new equipment (P4, XP media center edition and ATI 128 graphics card). It kept telling me on installation that my processor and graphics card were not adequate. After much anguish and adjustment it does now play but I need to keep altering set resolution under the video options to keep it alive in multiplayer.

Question: Has anyone else had similar problems?

Warning: NWN seems to be very sensitive (no such problems with Morrowind or BG).
Unless someone has an answer it may be best to try NWN on new equipment before upgrading.

Request: Ziroc please delete all character under the "grey" names and I will start again (hopefully without having to respawn so often).

A good thing you got the warrantees, I always tell people when buying computers, laptops etc to get the extended warrantee, it may not be needed, but if it is, you'll be pretty damn glad you got it.

I use a desk pad for my laptop that props it up a bit -- more than just the fold-down feet would. I highly recommend doing this for heat purposes.

Also, you should get a Centrino computer. The processor is specially designed to constantly monitor heat and adjust performance accordingly.
