Statues quest in Baldurs Gate

I can find the house which has the statues, but when I use stone to flesh scrolls on them they just go away, so my question is where do I get the quest?

It's in a house that contains a TON of Helmed Horrors or similar creatures... It's not in the section with the Mermaid, the Water Queen's House, or Sorcerous Sundries. Try the others, for now, or until someone can tell you more.

It's in the north western portion of Baldur's Gate...the house has a plus-shaped roof (I think) and the door is DEFINITELY LOCKED...

Yes I found it, hard battle but wand of monster sommoning and they can't get to you, just sit back and fire away magic arrows and other magic [img]smile.gif[/img]

Be careful when you return to the quest-giver (if you do, at all...) He may not be willing to part with the quest item, and you might not want to just give it away.

If you're quick enough, you can give him the helmet to get your reward, then kill him quickly to get it back.

I never even bothered getting the quest; I just went straight to its hiding place and got it. I figure that if Mr. Loner wants it so bad, he can get it himself.

but you might want to do the quest anyway for the xp, but also.. I think just getting the helmet is a bit powergaming, if you like to roleplay you should do the quest too....
