I've played BG and I am currently in Chapter2 of BG2.
It will probably take me about another 3 years to finish
BG2 at my current rate.
I definitaly "DONT" want another Baldurs Gate.

No it is not the same at all. The main difference-- which irritates some people-- is that you basically play 1 character. You can hire someone to travel with you, but they will do their own thing most of the time, unless you specifically tell them what to do.
There seem to be some sub-quests, like BG, but not as manly (at least not up to the point I am at).
It is awesome, though. Get it.

What I'm finding with BG2, is that I'm starting to get a bit
sick of the battle routine....Setting up everyone for every
battle, going through the range of spells etc. I don't like
using the AI control option either.

..."but they will do their own thing most of the time, unless you specifically tell them what to do.".....

Isn't this basicly the same as in BG though, ie. you can chose
to control them or not?.

Nope.. you really can't do much with the tag-alongs. They might as well be called NPCs, because that's what they are.

For me, I don't like it, because I can control over my party. In BG, I played a multiplayer game so I could use my own characters instead of the ones you met in the game (also, the game didn't tie you down into having to use them, you just missed out on a few quests).

I like playing NWN with other people, it's more of an enjoyable experience. For me, BG was the single player version of NWN.

hmm I made a paladin and she had a cha of 16 to start with that seem pretty high to me. The point system is great you get the stats the way youwant them no need to kepe tryign to roll. You just can not be a demi god with all 18's to start with
