Well, I am a Conjurer and my opposite school of magic is divination (but in AD&D my opposite school is Evocation)
in BG, BG2 and Icewind dale my opposite school is divination, but in heart of winter is evocation like in AD&D. Now, when NeverWinterNights arrive will he be with AD&D "Rules" or it will stay like in bg, bg2 etc.Because if I use my bg2 character in NWN and if it changes, what is going to happen to the evocation spells I have already learn? |

I'm dont think you'll be allowed to import a character to NWN. I think you start over from level one. More than likely I'll be corrected though

You will be able to import your BG2 characters to NWN with some major limitation.
First of all you will see your character undergo some major changes due to the fact that NWN will use the new D&D 3rd edition rules, and not 2nd edition. Now, if you want to be able to play your character as an "official" Vault character, then your out of luck. You'll be starting at lvl 1, you'll have to reassign ability scores, etc. In otherwords, you'll be importing little more than your old character's name. You can import your character as is (with some mandatory changes due to the different version of D&D). for play on your computer only, as an NPC in your own modules, or in servers that allow local characters (probably only your best friend's server since this requires the host to trust you). |

In addition to this, I read that Pool of Radiance II won't allow you to pick your feats. It will do it automatically. This sounds shite to me. Will NWN allow you to pick your own?

NWN Will try to follow 3rd Editions rules as close to the letter as possible (considering the technological and implementation difficulties of bringing the game to the comp).
So yes you'll be able to pick your feats and skills as you see fit. It's an important part of the character development process and simply one of the best features of 3rd edition. I can't see how the Pools of Radiance people came to that decision. |

Add to that the Dungeon Toolkit and NWN will be the best of the genre to date, I reckon (although Black Isle's new Fallout-engine Fantasy RPG may be a contender - but that's a long time coming)

You will be able to import characters from BG2.
But your character will be changed to fitt NWN. But the same stats and so on will not be changed. ------------------ Defender and master of Good archmagic Homepage: http://www.nwh.itgo.com |

Yes, it's true. In POR2 you can't chose feats but can chose skills. Each class has been given a feats progression list and it just gives you the next one along the list that you haven't got yet (for multi classers). You might be able to chose skills though. And there will be no female dwarfs! Only three of the races will actually have gender options! It's a shame because it looked good. Oh well, look out for me in NWN (I'll be the one fighting of three gnolls whilst luggging a dead comrade back to the nearest temple).

Oh, and Topaz (I forgot, sorry), under the £rd Edition rules specialists simply chose their oposition schools (up to three depending on their choice of specialism and how specialised they want to be and GM's preferences). I hope that clears things up (not sure what'll happen in NWN though). Keep those fingers crossed.
