I've been trying to get into the chat room for the last 2 days and it's coming up as an error????
it'd be good if we could have a chat room for everyone

and I cant seem to be able to change my avatar :S

Ok the chat room has been down for a very long time due to abuse.

You can't change your avatar. The avatars change with the number of posts. You can see a list in Rules aand Regulations
