I am not sure how many of you notice this, but in one building in Candlekeep, A bunch of rats attack you, they can't do damage of course, but the point is that there are two cats in there and they don't even care about attacking the rats! What sort of cats is Gorion and them raising?!

Like most of the folks in Candlekeep, the cats have been asked to help in preparing you for your journey outside the library. You wouldn't want to miss out on all of those rat-killing experience points now, would you!

I read somewhere that it is possible to charm a cat and actually make it attack the rats.

i was looking for melicamp last night and it reminded me of a CN halfling thief i played for a while who killed every small animal he came across - he never made it to BG2 to become an assassin but its probably just as well . . .

True--if you happen to have the cheesiest item in BG1, or a Druid's or Ranger's Charm Animal, you can charm the Cats to make them behave as Cats should. The problem is, though, that BioWare overlooked putting any sort of weapon in the Cats' paws, so all they can so is get the Rats down to 1 HP and knock them Unconscious.

If you listened to the guy outside, the feline warriors has defected to the rodent ranks. Only you can stand in the way of such a force
