my game now after installing bg1 +tosc crashes every now and then so i cant play

this is what it says after a blue screen saying error media cd1 removed

an assertion failed in D:\dev\chitin\chdimm.cpp at line number 787

d is my cd drive and the disk is still in it. not disk 1 as it won't let me play on disk 1, have 3 disc double pack of bg1 plus tosc.
can't play because of this and can't find any help on it anywhere.
anyone know whats happening?

I hate that error, I really do. It seems to indicate a problem with your chitin.key file, but it actual is more likely to indicate a problem with one of your .bif files. The only fix is to re-install the game from scratch.

i really wish there was another way.

when i installed it told me that the uninstaller didn't initialise. so not sure if i'll have to delete the files or whether it'll overwrite them anyway.
is annoying though.

hope its not to do with another scratched disc. as my previous problem and why i bought them new was to do with erraneous bif file.

i only just bought these and i've been careful with them too.
oh well. i'll just have to try it and cross my fingers.

thanks for telling me though.

First uninstall the game! Don't worry your saved games will not be removed.
After uninstall do a complete reinstall after which you need to put in the patch for tales of the Sword Coast then go ahead and play the game, your old saved games will still be there this should take care of your problems.

If you can't get the games uninstall command to work go through control panel and use add/remove programs.
