As far as I know W&W didnt sell very well so Im not sure what that will bode for a sequel. Which is a pity as they have made sequels to far less worthy games.

I dunno...from the continued interest in this game, even a year after its initial release, it may garner enough support for a second or even third game. That depends on Mr. Bradley, who is currently working on another game right now, but has every intention (according to an e-mail) that he wants to continue this saga. Wizards and Warriors seems to have developed a sort of "cult" status in the gaming world.
Until then, of course, there's Wizardry 8...due out in 19 days! ![]() Cheers, -Sazerac P.S. Check the post I just bumped: "D.W. Bradley speaks..." "S" [This message has been edited by Sazerac (edited 10-27-2001).] |

I certainly hope so!!!
What I have yet to understand is why the CRPG market seems so - well strange. Seems like we wait the longest for a new game while other genres are cranking out the 100th variation on the same old same old to the delight of their particular audience. "When you prick our interest, do we not buy?" (apologies to the Bard) Wyv |

It has to do with the structure of the game and the depth of the game. That's why RPGs take forever to come out.
![]() FPS shooters and RTS have an easier forumla, design, programming structure to follow. RPGs on the other hand, typically require a new system everytime an new version is made. (Plus, it helps when the guy in charge is a little more realistic with his resources and understanding of the market) For anyone that's curious: Post-HP people: Some guys went on to work on Final Fantasy 8 (?), then moved on to Blizzard. They're working on World of Warcraft right now! A bunch of people are working at local casion website designer (very successful). One of the animators moved to LA and wrapped up a Casper, The Ghost game. A couple programmers jumping into start-up companies. I ended up working on Aliens vs. Predator 2 (but not before I worked on the now-cancelled Middle-Earth Online). Moving on to the sequel to No One Lives Forever. **shameless plug: Aliens vs. Predator 2 is coming out next week. I did a lot of level work in that bugger. Plus, while it's not in this release, an upcoming add-on or demo will feature a multiplayer level I did. This level is based on the Asylum in W&W. I made the Asylum as a test multiplayer level for W&W, but since multiplayer was never released, I never had a chance to see how the layout worked. So, if you're interesting in AvP2, you might get a chance to see it in action! |

I don't mean to sound like an ignoramous on the topic, but why does the sequel to W&W need to be 'revolutionary?' The heart of the game is a well thought out story line and class progression process.
Why not create a new world (storyline) to explore, and add a couple of new classes to make add some spice. I know that I would be happy with W&W 1.5 a year from now, rather than 2.0 in three years (or never.) ---Still Lazy after all these years... ---L.O. |

Lazy Orc, allow me to be the first to say:
WELCOME TO IRONWORKS LAZY ORC!!!!! Not sure exactly why it has to be "revolutionary" but it tends to help sales. I agree though, the heart is the well thought out story line and the depth of the game (character progression, NPC's are always good, etc.) I would just like to see a W&W2. Of course that would add ANOTHER game to my to-buy list ![]() -Jafin [ 11-20-2001: Message edited by: Jafin ]
