IN BG1 you can just sell all but one. The one you need to keep will be dead obvious if you pay attention.

IN BG2 you do need a few of the high value ones though, so selling everything isnt wise.

I think that I've already found the one which you are talking about.

Yep I know which I shouldn't sell in BGII

When given the quest to clear out the spider infected house in Beregost, the one (forgot the name) that gave me the quest told me, that she would reward me for every item I brought back from the house to her (i.e. boots, wine bottle, spider corpse). Last time I also found a gem in one of the chests in the house.

I just sold it, but would I have been given an extra reward (XP + GP) if I brought that gem back to the lady of the house, instead of just selling it?

Whats Narlen Darkwalk?

The one I refer to is the special one which has a description that very blatantly says "do not sell this, it is important" although not in those words. The one the newbies still sell sometimes regardless.

It's been a long time since I played Baldur's Gate, but I think you can only bring back anything she asks for, but if you bring anything else back from her house, she will not notice. Also, if you plan on getting BGII and the expansion pack, there are some special items you can get if you have the golden pantaloons from the nobleman in the Friendly Arm Inn. You will also need the Silver pantaloons and bronze pantalettes from BGII and its expansion pack.
