I ran Icewind Dale perfectly, and enjoyed it extensively, however, I've had nothing but trouble with Icewind Dale II. I have a 500mhz amd processor with 386 megs of ram, and a geforce2 64 meg video card. I have directx 8 and according to the requirements I fit the bill. Yet when the intro movie plays its very choppy, and the gameplay is not much better. Any ideas anyone? I've set up the 2d options in the video settings but that didn't do much at all.

Sorry to say,,, but you *really* need more "oomph" on your processor, because 500 Mhz,, while within specs, is very slow for modern games.
So you can "live with it" OR *do something about it*. Doing something about it means you will have to spend some money,,, so Enjoy!!

500mhz is using socket 7 motherboard right? To change to a higher processor you might need to buy a new mother board plus the processor. Maybe a new tower casing as well.

Hmmm. I ran IWD2 on an AMD 600 with 128 RAM and a 16 meg video card; no problems. This was also with Windows 98SE. What's your OS? If it's XP, that may be the reason.

run the config program for IWD2 and in the first tab ("general") set all the sliders to match the speed of your computer. if that does not improve that take 'em down a notch til it improves the speed of the game. also, in the "game" tab lower the path search nodes a little.
