how do you do it? and when you do multi are you exploring the same place as in the game or are you just on one single map out to get who you can? im confused about that...

How do you mean? If you're referring to multi as in BG, you play the same areas but can create all six characters yourself. If you mean 'Do you play IWD but over the internet?' then yes as you create all six characters anyway. If that isn't what you asked, let me know. [img]smile.gif[/img]

Multiplayer IWD is playing through the main plot with more than one player. All my games quckly degenerate into arguments over who gets the best weapons and such, but among a more mature group it should be fun.

Run the game in TCP/IP, find the IP of the host and give that number to all the other players, then generating characters and such should be pretty self explanatory.

You can also play a multiplayer game yourself, but there no advantage to doing so because IWD handles single player games as multiplayers anyway.

When your computer connectes to a network (home LAN or internet, dosent matter) it gets an IP number from somewhere. This number identifies your computer uniquely on the network.

You need to find the IP of the host. DO this by running the program winipcfg (or ipconfig from a dos box if your system dosent have winipcfg, not all do) and you should be able to pick it out.

On a home LAN more often than not the IP of the host computer will be 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.0.254, since the most powerful computer should be used as host and Ive never met a home LAN admin who lets someone else get the best computer.

ON the internet your IP changes with every connection (Some ISPs do this more than others, even if yours gives you the same IP multiple times it can change unexpectedly).

ok i now know how to find my ip number so i am punching in the number and it says CANNOT CONNECT TO THE GAME SESSION?

I'm not really too knowledgable about this, but as no one else has replied, are you trying to connect up via TCP/IP or a Modem? I'm not sure whether this'll make a difference, but it may be that your ISP settings have some bearing on what you can or can't do over your connection.

Id also like to know how to get on multiplayer with other people, i tried all the net connections but nobody ever seems to be on.

Sorry, I missed this thread coming back up. Anyway, you will have to pos some more details. What system are you runnin, internet or LAN, any firewall software, things like that.
