I guess I was hoping for something a little more dynamic after you duck out of the Hand, perhaps something more similar to the BG2 ending...Not just the old page-flipping with the PCs heading off into the sunset. But at least there's that awesome HoW music...

I agree with you,

40 hours of killing and looting to get to the final battle, and then you are prevented from killing and looting the big bosses. Just as one goes for the killing blow they disappear in a cloud of smoke,... why did we bother leave Targos ? We could just have remained seated on our hands and wait for them to die or whatever happened to them in the end.

Edited : Just noticed that I was ranting on the wrong subject. Nevermind.

Agreed - the ending was terribly dissapointing and, somewhat cheap. I thought the ending in IWD1 was cheap but compared to part 2 it's great. Really they need to work on that part of their games...we hack and slash thru countless enemies and obstacles at the very least give us some closure worthy of our efforts!

What they ought to have done was have the ending go one of two ways, depending on whether or not you cleaned up the pool. Purifying the pool would allow you to fight them to the finish, whereas leaving it tainted would mean the limbo express. At the least, you would get a different result for playing good or evil, with the better ending (satisfying fight) for being good.
