It recommends you play HOF with characters you've already run through the game...why? I don't seem to be able to get to keep the levels I already earned, and if there is a way to do so, please let me know as I can't find it.

Load up an old svaegame, go on the character screen, select "export". Give a name to the file.
Start a new game, in the character selection screen, select "import". Select the character you just saved.
