\ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ I am currently in the last level of dragons eye and wondering why i cannot rest. I new that you couldnt rest in the level above ( the one with the fony priests) but i can find no legitimate reason why resting should be prohibited in this level as it is no different to any of the other ones, at the time of this post i am in that room right at the start with the trap that sets off an acid cloud, will i be able to rest later in the stage, i havnt played in a long time and have forgotten most of the game. If anyone can come up with a reason to this i would be grateful its annoying the hell outta me

I think it is just a built in "feature" of the game. It annoyed me also having to run up and down as many times as I did. But that is how they programmed the game.

In the basic IWD (without HOW installed) you were able to rest at several locations in this level. I think with HOW installed, there are still one or two locations where you can rest.
SPOILER: / / / / / One of these locations is the room where you find the Yuanti Master Archer with the Messenger of Sseth (best bow in the game IMO). You may have to shut the door before you can rest, though. |

I think the general idea is that it's too dangerous to rest and your characters recognize that. After all, there are yuan-ti and... other things roaming the level.
Try the suggestion in jmsteven's post. If it doesn't work, just try to get through the level as quick as possible - although you should go back down and rest and reload spells before entering the last room.

No.
SPOILER * * * the room with the Messenger of Sseth is in the southernmost room on the map - it has the High Archer in it, who uses the bow.

SPOILER
* * * I think in basic IWD you were able to also rest in the room with Baleful Mail and the random shield. I'm not sure if you can do this in HOW, and if you can, you might still have to close the door. |

If you do the "phoney priests" level properly, you can rest on that level. Don't anger or kill any member of the other adventuring party, and they will watch over you when you rest. You must talk to them,,it's a dialog option.
