Okay so I'm in Ch.6 of the regular game, but I am getting a bit bored... When should I go on the Heart of Winter part? Is there a way back so I can finish the rest of the game? And what levels should I be at to go. I have 2 fighters, a thief, a druid, and 2 mages. Any help would be welcome.

Thanks, Maj

What level are your party members? If you are in Chapter 6 I would think that you are more than able to handle HoW, but since it has been ages since I have played I 'll let others here correct me if I am wrong. Once you complete HoW you'll be sent back to complete IWD. By the way, you may want to check out Trials of the Luremaster that is a free download and can only be played if you have HoW installed. However, many consider it the toughest of the whole IWD/HoW saga so be prepared -- really prepared with heal spells and some fighters with the ability to inflict serious damage and mages that can cast potent spells. Since you don't have a cleric I hope you got heal potions. Plus, you must play TotL before you complete the HoW.

The levels of my party members are as follows:
Fighter: Level 11
Fighter: Level 11
Thief: Level 13
Druid: Level 13
Mage: Level 12
Conjurer: Level 12

I have never had a cleric, my druid does most of the healing. Thank you for your advise about Trials of the Luremaster it sounds intriguing, I have never used one of those but I was wondering about them.

You are welcome on the advice. By the way TotL is to IWD/HoW as Durlag's Tower is to BG1. Both are the greatest of challeneges in their respective games. many people do all the chapters except the last one in HoW and then do Trials, come back and complete HoW and then return to IWD. Good luck. You'll need it.

You will do just fine. With levels around 11 to 13 and well equiped (as in CH 6 should be)you can start HoW without problems. I'm sure you will find enough quests in Lonelywood to level up at least once before you will engage any serious fights. Note: you can return to Kuldahar twice, before finishing HoW and then go back to HoW areas (useful if you tend to hoard special items- as I tend to do)
