I know it is around here, somewhere... hmm... well, in the meantime...

I am trying to remember the progression of acquiring skills for bards, druids and, especially, for fighters to about level 13.

Most important: What is the progression for a fighter acquiring proficiency points and extra attacks: I am sure I got something wrong; but THOUGHT it was:

LEVEL: . . . Fighter Gains:
3 . . .. . 1 Proficiency Point (PP)
5 . . .. . 1/2 attack/round (ATT)
6 . . .. . 1 PP
9 . . .. . 1PP and 1/2 ATT
12 . . . . 1PP
13 . . . . 1/2 ATT
15 . . . . 1PP

Now, for bards: I am most interested in songs, and haven't a clue as to what other good things can happen. I know my level 6 (or is it 7?) bard has three songs in her repetoire; and believe some really good healing song becomes available at level 11. Can anyone give me a structured list of what happens to a bard, by level?

Same kind question for druids: What can I expect, by level. I am especially interested in when a druid acquires what spells, and when can he transform into an elemental.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Party On!

edited to force a table-like structure to the fighter progression table

You do realise that the manual is also in your CD? For the IWD manual, insert your CD1, explore the CD, open up the Manual folder and extract the .pdf file. The HoW manual can be extracted from the HoW CD.

Noblenick, which version of the game do you have? HOW adds new abilities to druids and bards beyond those of basic IWD.

Warriors gain one proficiency point every three levels. You start off with 4*, and gain 1* at level 3, 6, 9, 12, etc... ...

Warriors gain an additional 1/2 attack per round at level 7 and 13.

Bard Songs Page 13 of the HoW .pdf file for more details)
--------

Level 01: The Ballads of Three Heroes
Level 03: The Tale of Curran Strongheart
Level 05: Tymora's Melody
Level 07: The Song of Kaudies
Level 09: The Siren's Yearning
Level 11: War Chant of Sith

Druid's Elemental Forms Page 11 of the HoW .pdf file for more details)

Level 11: Fire Elemental
Level 13: Earth Elemental
Level 15: Water Elemental

Thank you Cyril and Dundee!

Cyril, Yes, I have everything through TotLM installed (To paraphrase a popular slogan: "HoW... DON'T leave the castle without it!") and, DUH, I had forgotten that HoW changes Bard and Druid. (Which is really a silly thing to forget, when I KNEW that HoW rebalances the game.)

Dundee, Thank you. I have a "No CD" fix installed, so it completely slipped my mind that I could go dust those puppies off and get the info that way. I wonder: Can I read and print them off at work without installing the game? (The latter action could get me fired!) I'll bet I can...

So, for my own edification, let me see if I can get this right. The corrected fighter progression (thru lvl 15):

When
Leveling
Up To
LEVEL: . . . The Fighter Gains:
------ . . . ----------------------
(start). . 4 Proficiency Points (PP) and 2 attacks/round (ATT)
3 . . .. . 1 PP
6 . . .. . 1 PP
7 . . .. . 1/2 ATT
9 . . .. . 1PP
12 . . . . 1PP
13 . . . . 1/2 ATT
15 . . . . 1PP

So, the "sweet spots" for dualing a fighter over to another class (like, heh, heh, Druid) would be immediately upon leveling up to LEVEL 7 or LEVEL 13.

Party On!

edited to add corrected fighter table

I copied the files into two floppy disks( one for IWD, one for HoW) and went to my school's cybercenter to print it out, then I went to my library to bind it. The thing is, I got my IWD:HoW from my cousin( who found it boring, the silly boy ), and it did not come with the default manual, so I had to print out my own.

In your case, you can go to a local printing shop and get it done.

Well, while you're waiting to access your computer at work, here's a bit more info on druids.

There are a few other significant changes to the druid class that HOW makes:

1. The shape change ability is now gained at level 5. At every other level between 5 and 15, the druid will gain an additional form into which they can change and the shapechange ability will now heal some of their wounds.

2. At level 9 druids become immune to poison.

3. At level 15 druids no longer become fatigued for any reason -- the only reason a druid will need to sleep at this point will be to aquire spells.

Cyril and Dundee,

You two are veritable wellsprings of good info! Thanks!

Cyril, Wow! Shapeshifting at level 5! Immunity to poison and fatigue! I had forgotten just HOW MUCH rebalancing had gone on with HoW! I am salivating bucketfuls: can't wait to dual that fighter over! (LEVEL 13 seems so far away!) My hazy memory is slowly coming back (thanks in large part to you and Dundee Slaytern)... As I recall the Druid AND the Bard both made out well...

Dundee, Thank you. Looks like I can just pop the CD into my home or work computer and print directly. (I am presently at work WITHOUT the needed CD; but will check this out soon.)

Is "The War Chant of Sith" the healing song?
What is "The siren's yearning?"

Party On!

Siren's Yearning - While played the bard's enemies become enthralled [save vs. spell] -- unable to take action for 1 turn or until they take damage.

War Chant of Sith - The bard's allies gain -2 to AC, 10% resistance to slashing, piercing, crushing and missile attacks, and regenerate 2hp per round!

Cyril,

Oh, yummy! Can hardly wait. Has inspired me to write a short poem:

What's a party without a song?
Bards rock.
Party On!!
