once you've returned gone wherever nathaniel told you (can't remember right now, but it's in my journal), can you return to the temple and the battle square, or should i complete it before i leave? speaking of which; are there any tips/tricks, and should i use a barbarian or a fighter (barbarian has 170HP, whereas the fighter only has 150HP)

No you won't be able to return anyways as the glacier gets brought down.

Funny thing...
the glacier is down, I've started chapter 3 and still can go back to the battle square - but - I finished ch. 2 with Inner sanctum activated & when I started ch. 3 ... khmmm ... I was still in Inner Sanctum 'transparent' mode, so I went back and deactivated it. Neuro

I think it's possible to go back and do the square so long as you can get back to the temple. I know when you're called by Nikky to do his favor, the battle square is no longer operational.
I did it once myself. 250 fights is rather a lot. You do get stuff and experience, but I wouldn't do it twice. |

I was in the Fell Forest, went out to the Marsh and got my *ss kicked by the Dragons,
so I went back to the Battle Square from the Marsh to get some better weapons. BTW - the Improved Invisibility Spell lets your guy fight while remaining invisible - makes Battle Square EASY!!!! |
