Sorry, I cannot help now, but I will try to find out for you tonight after work. Hopefully by then, somebody else will have answered though...

Don't give up hope! You're not being ignored, we just have to find out who knows the answer to your question.

KuanYunchang, welcome to IronWorks!

Is your problem that you have made some custom portraits and they are not available at character generation?

Yes, that is my problem. I have built them (the portraits) to the specifications in the manual but when I open the custom portraits box nothing appears. I have placed the portraits (with correct file names) in the "portraits" folder (which I had to create) in the main directory (C:program files/ Black Isle/ Icewind Dale

ACK! Please help!

What are the dimensions, in pixels, of the portraits you've made?

I realize that the manual says: 36X58, 8-bit for small and 110X170, 24-bit for large. However, I have found different size combinations in IWD portraits available for download from the internet. Namely, the combination of 36X58 for small and 110X173 for large. It might be worthwhile trying one or both of these values.

Hmm... wait a minute... I screwed up on the size of the small portraits... I'll see if changing it from 36x60 to 36x58 makes a differences. However, the large ones which are the correct 110x170 and 24 bit don't appear...

I edited my post during the time you put up your response, so I'll repeat the other picture dimesnions I've found:

1. the combination of 36X58 and 110X173
2. the combination of 38X60 and 110X170

I've used custom portraits in BGI & II but haven't tried them in IWD so I do not know personally which dimensions work.

hmmm, the large ones should appear if you have them saved as 110 x 170 24bit UNCOMPRESSED bmp files. Check the options you are using to save the files and make sure that they are not compressed at all, that may be your problem. Also, make sure that the file name for the large file conforms to this convention:

xxxxxxxL.bmp

where the xxx's can be any alpha numeric string not exceeding 7 characters.

if THAT fails, and you have the original artwork that you used, post again and I'll do the cropping / editing for you. I have done hundreds of these and haven't had ANY trouble getting custom portraits to work for IWD, BG2 or NWN.
