No not what you think I play IWD+HOW for some days now, but i noticed that when my party wants to rest, it takes always more that 8 hours. I know BG1 +bg2, and i dont think this thing is normal, is it a bug? Last time my party did need 15 DAYS to rest!!! The option rest until healed is off, any ideas? I just hate to lose so much "time" with rest

we were just talking about that a day or so ago! *lol*
15 days seems a little long, but if you are a low-level party with only one or two low-level healing spells memorized then that might explain it.
apparently, what it does is it takes 8 hours to replace any used up healing spells, then it applies those healing spells. then you sleep 8 more hours to replace those used healing spells. and so on and so on, until your party is completely healed, with all healing spells memorized.

soooo.... if you only have one or two light heal spells memorized and everyone in your party was near death... you can see that it might take a loooong time to do this.

of course, if you have tons of spells memorized and aren't near death, then it sounds like something is kinda fishy. are you sure it was 15 days? and not like, 16 hours? sorry i don't mean to imply anything by asking this, but since i play late at night when i am half asleep *lol* sometimes i see weird things.(c'mon, we ALL do that, err....right? *looks around nervously as everyone just stares at her funny*)

ok, uh, lessee if i can think of anything else, like maybe some weird cursed item or something...

are you patched? i think with both iwd and how, you only need the latest how patch. does this happen all the time? or just once or twice? *lol* i'm nosy, aren't i? sorry.

The sleep 'bug' usually is for 16 hours NOT days!!
Try going into 'sleep' from a character screen, not the main screen. This gives you the option of 8hrs of 'til healed'. If you have 'rest until healed' checked in 'game play' then resting from the main screen = rest until healed. In BG and BGII this meant just that - you only rested as long as necessary beyond normal sleep time of 8 hours.
Sleeping for DAYS is not acceptable! If you don't have the patch - GET IT! There are some things you really NEED the patch for! If you live in the uk, you HAVE to have the uk-specific patch to finish the game!

Thx for help. On main screen when i rest i always choose the 8 hours option, so its not so problematic. But when i go to a tavern, and my party is near death (i mean the most have only 5-6 hps hehe, and thats quite often), then yes, it takes days, 3-20, although option rest until healed is off... i noticed that if i go first to a temple and heal my complete party then it takes only 8 hours even in taverns. In icewind.ini option rest until healed is off!!! I installed how, so for iwd i dont need patch, and for how i have the 1.41 patch. But ok, i can live with this bug, because this game rocks.

sorry, but i think i got all backwards when i tried to explain to you earlier about what happens. so i read the manual carefully and discovered a better understanding about the game's definitions here.

rest
regain hit points without magic(you regain 2-4 hps every 8 hour period)so if you are near death, and use this option, which is exactly what you ARE using, then it could take a LOOOOOONG time to regain all your hps.

rest until healed
regain hit points using magic (you rest 8 hours for spells to reset, then a couple of minutes to cast them on everyone, then 8 more hours to reset all the spells again). this takes 16 hours.

so, if you do have healing spells memorized, you are way better off by turning ON "rest until healed". or else spending a ton of money at the temple before resting to heal. *lol* because you see how long it takes if you use the natural method.

While the option exists to turn off rest until healed... it doesn't turn it off.

Just be sure to mem enough healing spells. Then you'll heal up just fine. If not, well, heal up before resting in an inn (as you can't choose to rest just 8 hours there)... or just rest for days in an inn, nothing bothers you, and time doesn't matter anyway

>>rest
>>regain hit points without magic(you regain 2-4 hps every 8 hour period)so if you are near death, and use this option, which is exactly what you ARE using, then it could take a LOOOOOONG time to regain all your hps.

The game only has 2 rest modes... resting (where you rest for 8 hours and heal whatever amount you heal naturally in that time) and rest until healed (where you rest, then cast heals/rest until you are fully healed and have all spells memmed). In either case, resting in an inn increases the amount of hp's you heal, based upon room quality. The only time you'll rest that long and not use healing spells is when you have no healing spells memorized and are using Rest Until Healed.
