OK...I NEED INFO FAST PLEAZ. I PUT IN THE CHEATS THING AND THEN I INSTALLED IWD PATCH V1.06 AND THEN I TRIED TO PLAY THE GAME AND IT SAID "AN ASSERTION FAILED IN ChDimm.cpp AT LINE NUMBER 582. PROGRAMMER SAYS: UNABLE TO OPEN BIF
 ata\GUImos.bif" AND THEN IT WONT OPEN. OK SO WHAT DID i DO WRONG???PLZ HELP.

I dunno, but i think you might want to try it again without the cheats.
i'm notr certain, but didn't they do osmething to cheats in that 1.06 patch? if anything, put the patch in first, THEN the cheats. otherwise, leave the cheats out. ::shrug:: |

Can't help you with this one, Sarek. But I wonder if the cheat codes did it? Never used them myself, though, so I don't know. Maybe if you uninstalled the game and re-installed it? But that will probably mean downloading and re-installing the patch again as well
 If you do, maybe don't enable the cheats untill you have installed everything else!------------------

Do you have HoW installed? I got a similar error when I mistakenly installed the IWD patch with HoW installed.

not if you only RE-instasll it. but if you UNinstall first, you'd better copy your "characters" and "save" or "mpsave" folders to the desktop. I never used cheats in IWD cuz i tried it in BG and had similar issues.

It should keep the saved games ok - but it is possible they will be corrupted by the cheat codes still. Try it and see. Sorry not to be more helpful.
How far have you got in the game, anyway? If you are less than halfway through it may well be worth starting over again 'coz you have learned a LOT about how the game works, and how the characters behave, etc, so you can make better choices... ?? ------------------ [This message has been edited by Fljotsdale (edited 06-05-2001).] |
