Just got HoW and was putting IWD back on my machine and I keep hitting the following error:
illegal operation: _ins5576 caused an invalid page fault in module ZDATAI51.DLL Then drops out of the install, it also doesn't initialize the uninstaller so I've been having to manually go in and pull the reg keys and all. I've tried this just about every way I know how. I've made cd images on my HD and tried to install from that, I've done a clean reinstall on the os, even shuffled around the IDE cables on the board, it all come up the same. Any info, ideas, or help would be appreciated, I'm dreading having to try to get a hold of interplay's tech support, I know how that usually goes. here's my system info PIII 733/133 512mg pc-133 P3V4X Asus mainboard 2 IBM deskstars ata100, 7200rpm aopen 52x cdrom zip 8x4x32x CD-RW Promise Ultra100 IDE controller card GeForce2 64mgDDR SB Live! 5.1 Running on WinME with Dx 8.0a |

IF you have The original Icewind dale installed, and still get that error, you may need to exchange your game for another, and they mark yours as faulty. When I bought Baulders Gate II, I had to trade in my Collectors CD for regular ones because CD 3 was not properly manufactured.

I was trying to put IWD back on the machine, the copy that I have is the one I got when it first came out and has worked before. I've since changed my hardware, so I'm thinking it''s prolly something related to the HW, just can't figure out what...

You could try a complete Hard drive reformat and install windows from fresh to get rid of all the bugs and build up of crap, and then it should install ok.

It's Direct X 8. I had many problems with many of my games and finally tried a fresh install of my OS (ME) and did not upgrade to Direct X 8. All my problems were solved. Maybe that's your problem too.

Sounds likely SirVance......
I've resisted upgrading to DX8 until some of the horror stories subside. - P ------------------ ![]() |

I don't know if it was just me, but I had a UDMA 100 Controller card in my machine for a while, and it caused nothing but problems. It caused some of the wierdest errors I have ever seen.
