Whenever I put my CD in to install BG1, it only says play and everythng else that is normal as if i already installed. When I explore the CD and try to initiate the Setup program my PC freezes!!!! I am using Windows 98. Any help would be welcomed.

You should look to see if there are any files from the game in the computer and remove them if there are. After try to install it; it should say install where ir usually says play.

No trace of the game at all. BG2 is installed and ToB but I have never installed BG1 on this computer.

sounds like an initialization file or registry error ... try running regclean (free download from microsoft) to clean your registry if that doesnt work, you could try uninstalling bg2 and tob and re-cleaning the registry
