Hi, everyone,
I'm new to this forum. I've been slugging my way through the game and I'm up to chapter 5 where I've freed the slaves by lying to Kerish & got the book to repair the bridge. My problem is that my party is getting hit with massive "freezer burns" even before I fight the winter wolves. Is there anyway to slow down the hit points loss from the cold? I guess I could continully cast "haste" on my party or find enough "cold resistence" potions to last me through the entire cave area? If so, who would have that much potion in store? Any thoughts and comments on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help. Harry |

Yes, those Winterwolfs are quite the nasty creatures (especially compared to the ones in BG1). I always pick them out as soon as possible, preferably with ranged attack and Fire. Of course you could also use the Backstab ability of your Thief, or the sneek-attack strategy. Otherwise, you should get some Cold resistance items as you suggested yourself.

If so, stock up on Resist Fire/Cold spells, and you should be okay, at least where the Cone of Cold the Winter Wolves use is manageable. The area you're talking about is right after you enter the cave, right? There's about 8 or so of the wolves there, and once you deal with them this problem should go away. Luring 1 or 2 back to your group at a time could help, while your archers pick them off before they get close enough to use CoC. Another possibility is using something like Web/Entangle to keep them in place, and drop a nuke (Fireball) on em. If all else fails, remember they can only use it once each, so lick your wounds and move on

Thanks for all the advice. The resist cold from the cleric spell book is real handy. Never thought about using it because I was stocking up on cure moderate wounds instead.
It's just that my party was getting hit with at least 40 HP damage per person from the cold within seconds after I walk into the cave. And I thought there has to be a better way...Thanks again. Harry |
