Hello everyone! Back in the forums after a long rest from finishing IWD. BG2 is everything I was hoping for. While I waited for approval to get on the forum, I had to do a lot of digging to figure out how to fix my fallen paladin. See, I goofed during the stronghold quest without a save at the right time and was doomed! However, I finally discovered how NearInfinity could solve the problem. Just wanted to share this for any other unintentionally fallen Paladins out there. Still couldn't finish the stronghold quests, but I was able to go deal with the dragon and be able to use a very helpful sword. Good luck to all!

You didn't want to roleplay it out as a fighter? For future reference, to play a paladin you must,, almost always,, do the *super good* action or dialog choice. You can get away with a couple of minor neutral choices, but that's about it. Also..I believe you can't take money for quest accomplishments, in most cases.
Basically, if your actions and choices caused your paladin to fall, then you weren't roleplaying a paladin.

Paladin (or a Ranger) will fall not because of dialogue choices. A fall happens either because his/her reputation falls below a 6 or he/she makes a game specific evil choice. If a paladin’s reputation is low enough to be in danger of falling, you have been very, very bad, killing commoners (in front of witnesses), steeling from stores (and getting caught)
Reputation killers: recruiting Viconia recruiting Solafein (If you have that mod) claim the ransom for Elgea fireball in the temple district hurting a civilian in a fight transformation into the Slayer demand a reward when you finish a quest ( you can take money for competing a quest…you just can’t demand money) instant fall choices: making one the “evil” choices in the challenges in Hell. Siding with Bhodi

I thought yoru stronghold was the way to fix being a Fallen Paladin? I'm pretty sure I did that in a past game...

I do try to be a faithful and consistent Paladin. My "goof" was during the stronghold quest where you protect a woman until a relative shows up for her. I played it one time and he was "evil," so I had to slay him to protect the woman. Later, I had to back up to a previous save for a benign reason and came to the same point. I did not have a spell to judge his alignment and slayed him again, but this time, he was "good." Apparently, this is a random detail in the game. I quick-saved after the incident, only to find out I had done the wrong thing. This is the first time in a game I ever felt "fooled" and thus, tried to fix it the best way I could since I did not have the option to play it over again. The temple wouldn't have anything to do with me after that- even after I fixed my status. Oh well....

There are two possible relatives that come for the young woman and which one comes Is random. One is her uncle (the good guy) and one is the uncle imposter (the evil guy)…if memory serves the imposter shows up one in four times.
As a Paladin you should always have detect evil available under the Special Abilities button…this is about the only time in the game you would actually use that particular ability

IronDragon,
You have humbled me.... Rare, if any, use of the detect evil ability waxed my brain to forgetfulness. Remembering it would have served me well. Thanks. I shall continue on and prevail, nonetheless. Good luck in your ventures as well.
