I am still in SoA (finishing some quests b/f going to see Elhan again), but I started Watcher's Keep last night and man, the treasure's rock! I finished the first level and have started on the 2nd. I need another bag of holding! LOL This is the first area of any of the Baldur's Gate Series I have not had any sort of walkthrough so I have been surprised a couple of times...but am finding that by following the clues provided I have no need for a walkthrough. That said, I am actually enjoying it better than when using a walkthrough. Not sure if I will try and finish the entire Keep b/f the big fight, but it will be tempting!

I always like to finish Watchers Keep in SOA to get all those neat items early. It's a challenge and is very enjoyable. Be prepared though because level 3 is alot harder than the first two levels. I actually find levels 4 and 5 easier than 3 although there is a few very difficult fights in level 5.

Good luck!

Watchers Keep is probably the only part of BGII that I didn't look at a walkthrough at some point or another. And plus, it's full of neat items! I just hate doing the 3rd level(think it's the third).

I'm about to enter watchers keep from the TOB side. And I am doing it having completed the clothing triuverate. I have the armor on Minsc and he is now -15 with a THACO of -11. My plan is simple, send in the tank and clean house. I am even temped to put the game play up to MAX level. Yes I have gone over the edge and the game will quickly slap me back down to earth. My first experiment will be how many rounds does the cannon truly have.

I am now stuck on the 3rd level. I have the book which gives clues and such as to which way to go. I have 2 of the 3 jewels...but can't find anyone else thus far. Very frustrating. LOL I am likely to do a search for a few clues, but am still trying to avoid a walkthrough (though I am not sure why as I have used it the entire game). I might just go and finish SoA and then come back later since I finally found the exit!

The book tells you everything you need to know. Just read it carefully, and you should find your way to the last gem.

The very last set of directions is the one that gave me the most trouble. Just remember that going back through a door you just came through does not necessarily take you back where you came from...

I'm in the 3rd level as well and have my first gem. My memory of this is the book is okay, if you don't want to meet everything in the maze. Put another way if you follow the book instructions you quickly get to the demons and the exit to the 4th level. But you miss all the others in the maze.

Quick questions
Have you encountered the wild magic imps: hated them. One time HD got his genders switched and he was in the special armor which switched too. Made him look like an over priced drow priestess.

Have you encountered the demons in the dead magic room.

Have you met the ladies??

There are lots of extras in the maze.

Is that really true? My recollection is that the book does take you through every room in the maze, just in a more straightforward manner. If what you said is true, which rooms do you miss if you go with the instructions provided by the book?
