Raistlin and Irenicus, on a 100 miles by 100 miles field. Assume this is Raistlin right before he's about to go into the portal to fight Takhisis. Remember that he would win, and defeat the Krynn Pantheon He also gets his cleric lover. Assume this is Irenicus after he stole your soul, and he gets Bodhi. Both are fully rested, and get all spells they would have normally. Raistlin does NOT have his time travel device. My money's on Raistlin. The cleric would turn bodhi, and raistlin would meteor shower and timestop Irenicus to kingdom come.

On Faerun or Krynn?
It is rather important. Level 10 spells an above are illegal on Faerun (I don't care what you say, they simply are. Mystra made it so after Karsus cast the level 12 spell Avatar).
Hhmmm. Could depend on who wins the initiative on the time stop. Or does it. You may teleport under Time Stop as it explicitly say so in the spell description (weirdly enough). However a gamble might be in order. Timestop has a casting time of 9 so some form of invisibility might render it useless.

EDIT: Karus -> Karsus.

Although Raistlin is only L20, after reading the Dragonlance books, my money is on him.

Wasn't raistlin sick? I only read up to book three, so I don't know. I think Irenicus could beat him, or Bodhi would get him after Irenicus turned the cleric to stone.

The one that will win is the one that will have +6 dagger and a normal dagger, as well as the ability to teleport during time stop. Cutting throat during TS brings the argument to an end. Since that Raistlin has his dagger John is dead meat.

Cutscene Irenicus would have no competition. Non-cutscene Irenicus would be ripped to shreds.

I'd have to put my money on Raistlin also. He defeated a diety on her home plane - it takes someone with almost demi-god power to pull that off - especially by themselves!!!

Irenicus is very powerful, but not powerful enough to challenge the gods themselves. Raistlin wins.

He wasn't really sick, just extremely frail physically. Anything that required physical exertion caused him to become short of breath and to start coughing up blood. However, his magical abilities more than compensated for his physical shortcomings.

Keep in mind that all of the Dragonlance characters were actually roleplayed by them members of Weiss and Hickman's PnP group. Raistlin had a very low Strength and Constitution, and this was just their way of representing that frailty in literate terms. They also said they would never have thought to have Raistlin whisper all the time. They added that after the person playing Raistlin did it one of their gaming sessions. One of the characters had made a very acidic remark to Raistlin, and the player gave Raistlin's reply in a low, coarse whisper. The effect was to make his threat sound MUCH more sinister...so it became a permanent trait of his character.
