Renfield and Nalias castle

Hi,

I searched around the forum but can't find an exact answer.

I am stuck. I left to go to Nalias castle and help her take care of monsters there but in leaving the city, I have found this poisoned guy named Renfield.

He needs me to take him to the docks. If I do this, a whole set of other quests will happen Domino effect. I don't want to lose Nalias castle and or her from my party, but I also don't want to miss out on the poisoned guys quests etc.

Should I bring him back first? Or should I do Nalias castle first?

I have a feeling I have to bring him to the docks first. If I do that, will I be able to postpone the other harper quests etc. and complete Nalias quest? Or will I mess things up for the Dock quests and such if I go to Nalias?

though not *realistic,* but the poisoned buy will stay dying but not dead when you finish Nalia's quest. So, go head to the D'Keep if you wish.

I take it you mean the encounter with Xzar after you bring the poisoned guy to the docks area. You can put Xzar off indefinately. Last time I check Rensfield can die if left off too long. Kinda like the guy you can find in BG1 (can't remember on which map you find him though)

At any rate as a roleplayer and not a power gamer I would say take care of the poisoned guy, his situation is far worse than Nalia's castle. the castle while over-run with monsters can't exactly get any worse.

Making a pitstop to drop off the dead guy won't mess up Nalia's quest at all. Taking Renfeld to the Harpers won't take long and then you'll be on your way to Nalia's castle. Xzar can wait. What choice does he have?

In times like these, do the quickest first.
Dropping off Renfeld = 1 hour, tops.
Just getting to the de'Arnisse Keep takes 20 hours.

Thanks for all of the helpful info.

I am glad to know that there are many different ways to handle this situation.

For now, I am going to drop off Renfeld and let Xrar wait.

Last night I took care of Renfeld and started into the Harpers House. I am still undecided I guess. Because now that I think about it, I have been finding some useful items in the harpers house. Hmmmm... what to do.

I will try to finish the Xrar quest and then go to Nalias place. Unless nalia leaves me to go to her castle before I am finished with Xrars quest.

From a roleplaying perspective, a poisoned man would take priority.

From a gaming perspective, veteran players (and now you, too) know that Nalia will wait around for weeks without any real ill effects.
