Hum. I have downloaded shadowkeeper out of curiousity and now im stumped. I downloaded it originally to over-ride folder but it didnt work. So, I extracted it to a folder of its own called Shadowkeeper. Now I dont know what to do. The only thing I can find is something called "CharView", which lets me view some characters, but not edit anything. Can anyone give me a tutorial on how to get this thing to work?

P.S. I have looked on the site and its all a bit sketchy and undetailed on what to do. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You don't need to put it in the BG2 folder. Just put it on your desktop if you want. The program automatically finds the location of your game (default is C:\Program Files\Black Isle\BGII-SoA or something along those lines. When you open it, it'll index your files or something. When it's ready, click on open (upper left hand corner), chose the save you want to edit (you can't edit quick-save and auto-save by default, but you can change that through a setting), and then edit away. A screen pops up with a picture of the current character with a toolbar beneath it. The toolbar switches between characters. When you're done editing, close that window that popped up, and it will ask you if you want to save your changes. It will then ask you what you want to save it as. Say your game is called Blah. After changes, it's like Blah (edited 0000001). I don't know the number of zeros, not important . That's the game with the changes. Always check to make sure there are no bugs, although I can't say that I've heard of people encountering bugs in SoA from the editor. Have fun, but remember, just cuz you can edit it, doesn't mean you should .

Ok. Im probably being an idiot, but here is what as far as ive got. I opened the folder called shadowkeeper which all the files were extracted to.... Nothing happened. I then clicked on the file in a window (.exe i presume) and this is all that came up:

Quote:
Mud Master - Version 2.6.1 - Copyright (c) 2000 Aaron O'Neil
All rights reserved.

TIP: If you are running Mud Master from Windows 95/98 start a dos prompt and
run it from there. Launching Mud Master from the Windows Explorer or the start
menu will cause it to run noticably slower.

Ctrl+X Exits the program. "/help" for program help.
....No file searching like you said or anything. Maybe I should uninstall it and try again?

I have version 2.1.4, so I don't know what the diff is between your version and mine, but, anyways...
This is what you should do:

Extract all the SK files that you downloaded to
C:\Program Files\Black Isle\BGII-SoA
Don't make a separate folder for it, just keep the files loose in that directory.

Then hit start--->run. Type in C:\Program Files\Black Isle\BGII-SoA in the little box. Scroll around and look for Shadow Keeper. Open it up from there, and then you're set.

When I open it the info is just like the box I posted above; no open button.

I'm not quite sure if you have the same program version here...there's nothing that runs in DOS IIRC.

Does the inside of your ShadowKeeper folder look something like this? Compare the number of files, and the icon for shadowkeeper.exe in particular, that's probably the easiest way for us to know.

I suspect you downloaded the wrong thing, dude. The link to "Mud Master" if very close to Shadowkeeper. Simply re-download from the site and be careful!

shadow keeper does not have to be extracted into the game directory at all. keep the folder on your desktop and let it find chitin.key and dialog.tlk on its own...its pretty foolproof to run...
