In the south-east there's a door. U have to look pretty carefully. You go out that door and finish up the quest.
Its past the ring of arches. Its pretty hard to find. I think they're a couple. It still takes me a minute or two to find. Just keep lookin.

There are two exits from the shadow dragon's lair. Skirt the walls with your mouse until you find the second one.
Given that you had been able to defeat the shadow dragon the next battle should be a lark.
