Since I'm about to use all the difficulty-enhancing mods (Ascension, Sola, et al.) I am now able to justify making some changes to the game. I want to create two new kits (descriptions following), make some adjustments to the Undead Slayer kit, and fix NPC stat and portrait issues.
My issue with the kits is that I do not know which tool I should use: WeiDU or the TeamBG set. So far I have been unable to determine which one would allow me to implement my changes with the least amount of fuss.
I can change in-party NPC's characteristics easily enough using ShadowKeeper, but how do I manipulate an NPC so that they come into my party with the better portrait, etc.? Do I just change all the .cre files with their name?
I would also appreciate some feedback on these kits. These kits mostly just try to steer the character towards certain weapons (primarily for role-playing perposes), but I want them to add some neat things, while not becoming be overpowered. Part of that is that I've had some difficulty coming up with meaningful disadvantages. And I *really* need a better name for the elf kit.

Vanguard (Paladin Kit)
Advantages
+2 to hit and dmg.
+1 attack per round
-1 AC
Add'l -1 to saving throws
Can achieve mastery in long swords and bastard swords
15% resistance to magical damage
10% resistance to fire and ice damage
Immunity to fear, charm, poison, and disease
At level 13, may cast Blade Barrier once per day
At level 14, may cast Bolt of Glory once per day
Disadvantages
May not turn undead
Weapon use restricted to long swords, bastard swords, and two-handed swords
May not become proficient in two-handed swords or style
May not be more than proficient to two-weapon style

Cleaver (Fighter Kit)
May only be elf
Must be of partially neutal alignment
Advantages
+2 to dex.
+1 to cons.
+2 to hit (but not to damage!) with two-handed weapons
-1 to speed factor with two-handed weapons
Disadvantages
May not use sheilds
May not dual-wield
May not wear full-plate armor (but may wear plate and below)

P.S. to Thelonious Sphere: WAHAHA!! Please tell me you've soloed a monk, or have been in a party with three or four bards.

I think WeiDU is a better idea than the Kit Editor... I have the Kit Editor... and it is good... but it doesnt let you do everything... and requires you to have a lot of other things as well if you want the kit to be any good .

I hav enot used WeiDU before, but I find the TeamBG-set very puzzling and hard to understand. Go with WeiDU.

Open SK, and go to the creature-browser (CB). Select the NPC you want to edit, and click 'Edit'. Then it can easily be done. There are ususally more then one files of each NPC, but it should do to only edit the first one.

I'm using Shadowkeeper 2.1.4 and as far as I can tell there's an option to change the portraits there as well. Haven't used it, but it seems to work.

One thing I sont understand is weapon use restricted to Long Swords, Bastard Swords and Two-Handed Swords, while not allowing proficiency in two-handed swords. Seems illogical imho. The rest of the kit sounds pretty cool though.

Sounds like a cool kit too, although I don't understand the alignment restriction. Guess you have a reason for that though so it shouldn't be a problem.
