Okay, this is really p*ssing me off. I'm in the Firkraag dungeon and facing those greater wolfwares. I throw 2 fire elementals, an air elem, 2 lesser earth elems, a lesser air elem and my party-this is after I've already killed everything but the wolfwere's. One goes down, and then I pour on over 700 bleeping hit points worth of damage. Down goes all of the elementals and Valygar and I put the cursor on the b*stard and the mini-scroll unfurls saying "greater wolfwere-uninjured". I mean, what the bleep. Well over 700 points of damage and he goes from barely injured to uninjured!!!??? I understand they have the greatest regeneration rate in the game and I appreciate a tough fight, but COME ON FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!!!!!!! What, does this guy have like 10 i.v.'s of extra healing connected that I can't see. This is just really frustrating.
Sorry, venting is now over. Unfortunately, I won't feel better until he's dead.

CALM DOWN...

Greaterwolfweres have an inate property to piss off people (ok not really), but they also regenerate very quickly making them hard to take down, try your tactic over again, but also have all your tanks goin in, also, HASTE!!!, maybe a chant if you have Aerie (it give bonuses to attack rolls).

bottomline- your tactics + enchant up to wazzoo+ inhibit the enenmy anyway you can (heck even try to charm them with domination or mental domination)= dead greater wolfies.

also it depends on levels, i mean i went there after the underdark and i beat those with Minsc + Fire Elemental + Morkainden's swords (2)

Okay, I've tried 5 more times hammering a wolfwere and greater wolfwere with 2 fire elems, 2 lesser earth elems, 1 lesser air and a greater air elem, all hasted. Immediately after an air elemtal had a 25 point hit on the greater wolf, I paused and checked the status. "greater wolfware-uninjured"-and this was on top of all the damage that I was handing out. How can he regenerate INSTANTLY????!!! Is this some sort of a bug?

Finally went ahead and used the cheat mode for an instant kill. It said he had 575 hit points, which seems kinda high to me. Still, I added up well over 700 hit points at one point and, unless he regenerates at over 50 hp/round, he should have shown some injury.
I'm ticked that I actually had to use the cheat (which I immediately removed from the .ini right after the gtr wolfwere was killed).

they just regenerate insanely fast, thats all...it pissed me off too

i had 3 tanks (minsc, keldorn, and valygar) pounding on them while hasted, chanted, and blessed, and jaheira and aerie casted cause serious wounds....if you have harm, these fights will be a lot easier

have you tried lowering saving throws and using instant death spells? those are fun

if you have a thief, dont backstab until your tanks are already attacking it, so he doesnt have time to regenerate his life...hopefully it will be a high damage backstab, and then you shouldnt have any trouble killing it

just some random thoughts. i hope they helped

He's right y'know! They should go down quick if you beef up your crew and go hard on them one at a time. I wouldn't recomend summoning elementals etc... as these tend to just get in the way and by this stage in the game your party should have better THac0 and AC than summoned creatures anyway, plus they can do more damage, faster.

Just my 2cents worth

There's a bit of a bug with these greater wolfweres sometimes. I've never experienced it, but others have. They do regenerate quickly, but not that quickly.

Those things go psycho on me, so I go psycho on them. First I haste chant, bless, all wonder spells basically, cast em on my party, then my fighters go swarm up on one at a time.Throw in some healing spells and thats how i beat them.

Well, i never had any trouble with them. Actually i went their with a lvl 19 fighter/17(i think)illusionist using prot from mag. weopons and he dual wields long swords and since i went their at such high lvl i actually fought 5 GREATER werewolves at once!!! In the corridor near the bridge!!! My guy just slapped on improved haste and powered them one at a time - they lasted each about 5 seconds and my hp was 192/192 at the end. Yes i'm good!!!!
