My nice half-elf shapeshifter-druid got to lvl 13 recently ....
jeeeej, greater-werewolf. He has a base THAC0 of 12, and 21 strenght, which gets him +4 to hit: his THAC0 is 8. So far its all O.K. But when i was using my 19th lvl fighter as target practice for my Greater-werewolf i got a little confused ... My 19th lvl fighter has an AC of -5 My 14th lvl shapeshifter a THAC0 of 8 Wouldnt this make my shapeshifter's to hit roll 8 + 5 = 13 ?? Point is, my Greater-werewoolf doesnt even hit my fighter at a roll of 12 + 4 = 16 !!!!! only 17's are hitting him !!!! WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ?? plz help, i just finished a math-exam today, not being able to do this simple adding up is making my prospects for its grade very grim ![]() [ 01-12-2002: Message edited by: daan ]

The fighter wouldn't happen to have any equipment that gives him AC modifations to slashing weapons does he? That sort of damage specific AC bonus dosn't show up in the main AC, you might just have over looking it.

I still dont get what's going on, so here's the exact equipment my fighter was wearing :
Full plate mail girdle +3 vs. piercing Helm of balduran ring of protection +1 Now when my greater-werewolf -str. = 21 THAC0 = 8 tries to hit the fighter AC-fighter= -5 He can ONLY hit him with a roll of 17. He should however be able to hit him with a roll of 13 .... This is what the message-window says: ---Attack rol = 19 - 3 = 16 miss --- The only thing i can think of, is that my fighter has the +4 two-handed sword, you get from the demon-knights at the demogorgon-statue. Its the Soul-reaver +4. I know the +4 is for THAC0 only, but the difference between with what roll i SHOULD hit him (13) and with what i ACTUALLY hit him (17) IS exactly - 4 -. Is it possible that for some reason the +4 counts for AC too ?? P.s. The geater-werewolf is hitting my fighter, but the fighter doesnt hit back, so the Soul-reaver's THAC0-penalty when you're hit isnt the problem.

Don't forget that full plate mail has the following AC modifiers:
Slashing -4 Piercing -3 Missile -3 So actually you are effectively trying to hit an AC of -9 since werewolfs give slashing damage, so that's where you've got the 4 from. |
