Improved Yara-Shura Spoilers
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ I had danced with death when I fought with Demogorgan, a demon prince no less, but somehow triumphed in the end. All in all, the trip to Watcher's Keep had been fruitful, and I had recovered many, many strange and powerful magical items and even boosted my innate powers with the help of the bizzare Machine of Lum the Mad. I only hope they would be helpful in my upcoming fight with Yara-Shura. I decided to follow the advise of Melissan and seek to destroy the source of Yara-Shura's invulnerability. I did not trust her, but I had little choice in the matter and the fate of Saradush did depend on it, so I casted aside any self-doubt and made my way to Yara-Shura's mother's home. There, I encountered a Gorion imposter and I easily saw through his deception and lies. When he realised I would not fall for his tricks, he morphed into his true form and summoned a horde of undead. Sigh... when will they ever learn? Stretching out my hands and waving non-chalanty, I sang a hymn of praise to Torm and watched all the undead explode around me. It was amusing though, to see fear struck in the very heart of what I now recognise as a Master Wraith. I gave chase and he was led to a group of skeletonal clerics and fighters, such vile things! I sang another hymn and exploded them too, and finished off the Master Wraith in melee. Two more groups of chunkified undead later, I finally reached Yara-Shura's mother, who was named Nylee. It had turned out that she too, was a victim of Yara-Shura and beseeched me to work with her and kill Yara-Shura together. I was hestitant, but if what she says was true, then only she could remove the invulnerability that Yara-Shura possessed. So once again, I blindly agreed and made my way to the Marching Mountains, to seize the heart of Yara-Shura... and Nylee's too. The task... turned out to be very easy... the whole place was literally on fire, and fire healed me( you got to love 110% fire resistance)... I just stood on a firepit to make my stand and whirlwinded my way to victory. Of course, I still casted Armour of Faith and Hardiness beforehand to make things even easier. My raid on the stronghold also yielded another reward, a Baalor's Claw, which Cespenar had mentioned would combine with the Axe of Unyielding +3 from Watcher's Keep. Hearts in my Bag of Holding, I went to my Planar Stronghold to upgrade the axe and received the Axe of Yieldiing +5. Cespenar told me it was a vorpal weapon, among other benefits, and I decided it would make a better weapon than Crom Faeyr at the moment. I made my way back to Nylee who happily destroyed Yara-Shura's invulnerability. Then unsurprisingly, she had a change of heart... well she had no heart at first, but you know what I mean... and decided that she needed to protect her 'son' and destroy me. Sigh... a couple of whirlwinds later, she lay dead among her minions. I was feeling cynical, but there was a job to be done and I went post-haste to Yara-Shura's siege camp. My heart sank as I came into the clearing... Saradush was lost, my efforts had been in vain. Swearing revenge for all those who had died by his hands, I charged forward, bashing aside all those who stood in my way and eventually, finally met Yara-Shura face to face... I gripped my axe and adjusted my shield, this shall be a fight I will not lose... ... - Leonardo How The Fight Went Equipment -------- Armour: White Dragon Scale Armour Gloves: Gauntlets of Extraordinary Specialisation Helmet: Helmet of Defence Amulet: Amulet of Seldarine Rings: Ring of Gaxx, Ring of Earth Control Cloak: Cloak of Mirroring Boots: Boots of Speed Belt: Girdle of Fire Giant Strength Weapons in quickslots: Axe of Unyielding, Aduzedge, Crom Faeyr. Shield: Sentinel +4 THACO: -11 AC: -15 with Axe of Unyielding, otherwise -14 I basically barraged Leonardo through the horde and seeked out Yara-Shura as fast as I could. The moment I saw him, I activated Whirlwind and hit him as many times as I could. Since I hit him, this means I damaged him, and because I damaged him, Yara-Shura panics and flees. I was immuned to Normal and +1 weapons( reward from Tear of Bhaal in SoA), so the soldiers could not injure me, I just Greater Whirlwinded the Fire Giants and soldiers that wielded +2 Halberds. It was not long before Yara-Shura appears with his lieutenants, and I began a merry-go-round around one of the giant kitchen tables. My plan was to ignore Yara-Shura at first and get rid of his lieutenants first. Thus began a hit and run scenerio, I would whack a lieutenant a few times and retreat to heal; because I had the Boots of Speed, I could outrun all of them. Also, sometimes I got lucky and get a vorpal hit, which means instant death. The lieutenant mage was a pain though, she summoned two Mordenkainen's Swords which harassed Leonardo because I had no means to kill them. Eventually, all the lieutenants died and the M.Swords got unsummoned, leaving only a Efreeti and Yara-Shura. Thanks to my low, low AC, the Efreeti could not hit me easily( needed a Critical Hit to whack me). I did not dare engage Yara-Shura in melee though, my hits only dealt 3-4 damage per hit and I only had two Greater Whirlwinds left, so I switched to a tedious tactic. I used Aduzedge to hit Yara-Shura from range, Leonardo's Cloak of Mirroring protected him from Yara-Shura's Fireballs and Sunrays. It was a very, very, very tedious method. At 3-4 damage per hit, and 7-8 on Critical Hits, it took a long time before I finally killed Yara-Shura. It was kind of fun though, running around the giant kitchen table with an Efreeti and Yara-Shura chasing after you, pausing only to hurl Aduzedge at Yara-Shura one or two times, sometimes more if he is casting a spell. In the end, patience paid off and Yara-Shura croaked. Victory! Thanks for reading! [ 11-04-2001: Message edited by: Dundee Slaytern ] |

Well done once again! I bet your Cavalier hit the XP cap some time ago.
I have a few questions for you: 1. Did you manage to defeat Kangaxx with your cavalier? 2. I'm planning on soloing the game with a single class kit just like yourself, but can't decide what class/kit would be really cool to do it with. Any ideas? |
