This is in theory, i dont know if it will work, I will try it this weekend. Or one of you can try it now. This is with a Human Fighter/Mage. Note cast blur first. Also he has no efficiency slots with the weapons here. I am not an expert so I dont know if it can be improved upon. Its a total of -29 AC, I am pretty sure you can use +2 cloak with Big Metal Unit.

Big metal unit, base AC -10: -10AC
Dex is 19, + 4 to AC: -14 AC
Ring of Gaxx, + 2 AC: -16 AC
Ring of Earth Control, + 1 AC: -17 AC
Wong Fei's Ioun Stone, + 1 AC: -18 AC
Shield of the Order +4, + 5 AC: -23 AC
Yamato +4, + 1 AC: -24 AC
Spell, Blur, + 3 AC: -27 AC
Cloak + 2, + 2 AC: -29 AC

*cough* *cough*

I introduce to you, the Blade.

Use Any Items, Big Metal Unit ----> -10AC
Defensive Spin, ----> -20AC
Enhanced Bard Song, ----> -30AC
Use Any Items, Shield of Order, ----> -35AC
Yamato, ----> -36AC
DEX 18, ----> -40AC
Ring of Gaxx, ----> -42AC
Wong Fei's Ioun Stone, ----> -43AC
Ring of Protection +2, ----> -45AC
Cloak of Sewers, ----> -46AC
Spell Blur, ----> -49AC

Beat that!

Of course... he will not be able to do anything but look pretty because of the Enhanced Bard Song, but if you cast Misled and make the Misled sing the Bard Song instead, than he can still fight melee rooted to the ground with -43AC, or cast spells at -33AC(Aslyferund Elven Chain +5).

However, I believe there is an AC cap. Not sure where it caps though, I think -20AC. Also, if I cannot wear the Ring of Protection+2, just replace it with Ring of Earth Control.

And yah, this is also in theory too, because I would never equip my Blade this way.

The AC cap is -20 as Dundee said, the only way to get it lower is through the Dexterity AC bonus. So with a Dexterity of 24+ then the maximum AC is -26.

Swashbucklers and bards have the best AC in ToB. Use any item, bard song and natural AC bonuses can easilly drop their AC to -24, without the need for Big Metal Unit. The only way I know of to get to -26 is to have the additional Bhaalspawn powers patch and use Draw Upon Holy Might to get your Dex up to 24+ with items.

btw a Blades defensive spin wont reduce AC below -10.
