I posted this in the SoA forum which I deleted as someone pointed out to me that the ToB forum would be more appropriate.

I was thinking of finishing most of the Chap 2 quests now (I'm at the end of Chap 3 but have not proceeded to Chap 4 yet) and am thinking of doing Watcher's Keep once I hit Chap 6. My rationale is that the added experience would be useful for Imoen whom I plan to make part of my party once I rescue her.
Any comments on my plan? Good? Bad? Makes no difference?
Thanks in advance.

I'm not to sure about this.

First prob. (There are a lot of exp. points to be gained in the Keep.)

The real problem is maxing out your exp. point cap in Amn. If the installed TOB removes the exp. point cap for Amn, then OK maybe (see prob. 2). If it doesn't then maybe not. The reason I say maybe not is because you could use a exp. point cap remove file on the game, but the thing is that I don't know if this will screw w/ your char. when you start to play TOB - ask someone else about this. If you can't get rid of the exp. point cap then I would say NO, simply because you can easily max out your exp. points w/ Amn - and why would you want to do that earlier (thus missing out on all the advanced abilities you could gain in TOB from the extra levels achieved through those exp. points)?

Second prob.

Some of the most difficult fights (as well as logic puzzels) are in the Watcher's Keep (low level players will have a VERY tough time getting through this). For the most part I found the Keep to be more challenging than TOB - and I acctually spent more real-time hours playing it (and enjoyed it more).

I'd recommend to investigate Watcher's Keep before going to Suldanesselar (sp?). Kill Bodhi, give elves their Lantern and go to Watcher's Keep.
Reasoning: This is almost end of SoA and you should be skilled enough to go through Keep without too many problems. On the other hand after the Keep fighting Irenicus will be much easier.
The Keep has a lot of experience-valued monsters and this will help to level up your party before finishing SoA.
And as for exp cap in SoA - ToB sets it to 8000000 points.
