hmm. is that the trick? my paladin is only lv 28. i am at the same stage, having destroyed two gates, i dont have much of a problem getting melisan to hurt, and inqisitor dispels are very effective for the blade barrier and so on.. but i have repeated problems with the amount of shadow slayers/marileth/whatcha callems/bone golems that distract my guys from curtailing her activities.
![]() ![]() her summoned cre's dont die in storm of vengance or by death spell. whats their vulnerability? can you tell me how to dispach them quickly?? also..can anybody tell me what is the use of wish spell? - heal everyone is the only good i have gotten from it.(and is it lesser wish that gives you the "fully rested" option?) thanks. |

****SPOILER/STRAT HELP****
. . . . . a pointer or two. High levels DO help, but I wasnt maxed. (but rather high. Part was in low to mid 30s.) Here's why: 1)If you can, haste/whirlwind (near the end if you run out of whirlwind just toss whatever special melee ability you have left at her while hasted, if possible) your melee. CONSERVE your whirlwinds, you'll need every single one, particularly for the last interlude if it gives you trouble. 2)Ignore her summoned creatures as much as possible. Attack her solely, and do as much damage as fast as you can. If you nail her down fast enough, she'll retreat until the next encounter. Why ignore her summoned creatures? When you kill them, they come back as those shadow-slayer things. The other side of the room thing is tough, I know, but that's how I got her. I basically hasted+whirlwinded a giant melee bumrush up to her, took quite a bit of damage, but nailed her. During the initial fights, its a good idea to paste her with anti-magic spells and magic defense removal spells. It gets harder to do so as the fight drags on into its later stages. Always go for her. She is the primary target. If you deviate, you die. [This message has been edited by Waluin (edited 07-25-2001).] |

If your main character is good then he/she is immune to +1 weapons. During your last conflict, solo with your main char and keep the rest of your party well back. The reason being the hordes of bone fiends have ineffective weapons against your main character. If you can equip the shield of balduran or cloak of mirroring, then the summoned beholders are also ineffective leaving only a couple of demons to damage your main guy. This isn't a problem if you cast hardiness, because my guy had 220+HP and hardiness effectively made this 40% higher (i.e. 300+) so he could take a very heavy beating. Have one of your other members wield the rod of ressurection as this will fully heal and character, and you should have a few decent charges left. If the main char gets low on HP, use the rod of ressurection on him/her to instantly fully heal them. Meanwhile, use whirwind attacks, improved haste and potions of storm giant strength and Melissan will fall very easily in the final meeting. While your party are back, you could also summon elemental princes and devas to occupy the demons. This worked for me.......

Spoilers
Your prob. fine level wise. If your having trouble w/ this then good luck on the 3rd pool (perhaps one of the most difficult battles in the whole game). conserve your spell sequencers w/ pierce magic and lower resistance for upcoming battles 1. have at least 2 melee attackers attacking Melisan only (hopefully w/+5 wepons) - they need to have major healing potions in there quick slot as well 2. keep your other char.s back and have one mage use a wand of monster summoning (or several spells worth) the key here is to use monsters to distract any monsters Melisan brings in (ie. to keep them busy while you hack away on her) 3. when most of your monsters are dead use area effect spells to kill Melisan's monsters (I like holy smite here) - but remember to properly equip. your to char.s that are pounding away on Melisan to protect them from any other area effect spells (ie. ring of fire protection if you use fireballs) 4. save your game when you defeat her the second time (you'll need it) extra: think firestorm & wilting horror for the 3rd pool |

Ok i was a low lvl to when i beet mellisan i mades sure i had tons of potions and the other thing i did is buy every last one reserection scroll. so that i could save all my healers raise dead abiltys so between each fight you should drink potions as often as you can adn only use the scrolls untill they run out then you can use the healers abilitys.
ps. summons are great |

Potential SPOILERS:
> > > > > > Set traps!! Before you cut off the energy, go to the area where she will appear and lay several traps (Spike Traps works wonders here, although normal traps will also work). If setting traps to take her out or weaken her is too cheesy for you, then have your tanks Greater Whirlwind her to death after her Stone Skin is removed. Like the others have said, IGNORE the summon creatures, once she is gone to absorb more essence, they will disappear too. ------------------ Long live H22A1!!!!! |
