Could someone please tell me whether or not it is possible to finish BG and Tales of the Sword Coast without using magic? Thanks

I am sure of it. The different combinations of parties that could be put together would include a nonmagical composition. I have heard of people soloing with non-magical PCs. Give it a go, and let us know about it!

Do you play the son of a god or something like that in Baldurs Gate? I would like to know before I buy it. Thanks

Can the Golden Pantaloons you are given in the Friendly Arm Inn by the rich bloke upstairs be sold for money/cleaned for a tip? My computer is not operating at the moment or I'd check it out myself.

You can't sell the Golden Pantaloons. If you give them back to the owner you receive 100 or so XP.

I would hang on to them though if I were you, especially if you've got or consider getting BG2: SoA and the expansion ToB too. The Pants are part of an easter egg that spans the entire series.

OK OK.

Enough is enough. Nightshift, what you wrote is out of order. That is a HUGE spoiler, and is not marked. If i was a mod, I'd delete your post quicker than I could say quick.

EDIT UR POST, MAKE IT CLEARLY A SPOILER.

I've beaten it without a mage.

used this combo
My character... cleric/ ranger
Coran... Fighter/ thief
Minsc... Ranger
Kivan... Fighter
Ajantis.. Paladin
Safana... Thief

On a side note, without a definate mage you gain ALOT more money I finished the game with Over 90,000 gold and all my characters were to the gills with magic arrows (because you can sell off all those scrolls and overly expensive mage items)

Like money even matters at the end of the game....I think I had over 275,000 gp that I was never going to spend, even for magic arrows. The only good (expensive) stuff you need to buy in the WHOLE game is 1 set of armor for your Tank, 1 for your Thief, 1 for your Mage (maybe 2 if you have a backup Mage) and 1 Bow. That's IT. ALL the other good stuff you get for free, from your enemies.

As for beating it without magic....I don't really know. Some of the pre-fight buffing spells are SO useful before the big fights. (When I took out the Chess Game this time, I was under Bless, Chant, Haste, and Defensive Harmony, just for fun. Shortest game of chess I've ever played! ) That's pretty much how I play--not actually HURTING the bad guys with magic, just using spells to make the fights easier: Things like Dispelling an enemy spellcaster's magical protections so my arrows will hit him, or summoning Skeletons to act as blockers. That's why I'm happy going through BG1 with only 1 Cleric, used almost exclusively for Healing, and only half a Mage.

My answer is Yes, it can be done without any kind of magic, IF your Fighters/Thieves are good enough. The question is, WHY?

Nightshift, there is no need to spoil the main plot of the game to reply to this question, i had to remove your post. Next time you spoil, be careful to mark it, and spoil only if necessary. If youre nice youll be welcomed, so please try to be polite and youll have a good time here.

Thanks

I agree, it's not like the Realm's didnt have magic in them, so why pretend they don't?
