Yes there is - go to 'Sorcerous Sundries' in Baldur's Gate, and talk to the young thief dressed in red standing just northeast of it. He will ask you to pay him 50 gold (do it), and will show you to the thief hideout, which is just above the 'Sorcerous Sundries' building. Once inside, give the thief the correct password, and you will be allowed in. Walk into the main hall of the building, and walk right to the back. Here you will find a woman called 'Black Lily'. Just behind her is a barrel containing the manual.

I never knew where any of them were till I actually searched around online, never even thought they were that important - but they are, very, especially if you're going into BG II and ToB

The only one I can remember finding was the Charisma and Dexterity. Charisma is the easiest one to find by far. I think I found 3 when I played through, I know there are 6, but I have never looked online for them. That's a cheat and a waste.

Well, It must be me, but I found all tomes with ease on my first way through, I am one of those players who turns every stone to see what's beneath it But 6 tomes of charisma? Don't you mean "wisdom"? There are three of those for sure! I don't know how to get 6 though.

I think Lavindathar meant 6 tomes in total but I think there are probably about 8 or 9. Dunno.

There are eight manuals in total. But why do you consider looking for them online cheating? All you are doing is making life easier for yourself. It would be cheating to cluaconsole them into your game. Or to hack them. But looking for them on the net is just showing you exactly where to pick up your hard-earned goods. Right? I counted seven, one of each and an extra for charisma.
But they aren't really that important in the end.

Problem with BG is that it makes you think any score under ten is terrible, and any character without at least two 17's is close to being useless, where in truth even characters with only sixes or something can beat the game, and, if BG had more real roleplay, could even be more fun to play that characters with 18's and 20's.

That's not to say they aren't useful, or worth looking for
