Thief power: detect illusions

I have a new, uber thief-mage in my party named Imoen

whom I SK'ed up to 100% in all her thief skills. How do you use Detect Illusion? The same way as you disarm traps and open locks?

I thought that theives were just always detecting illusions. When you click that button it wants you to click on something, but you wouldn't know where to click on the screen.

You use the 'find trap' button to get your thief to detect illusions.

It's a very useful ability, BTW.

"True Sight" is better, but "Detect Illusion" doesn't cost a spell slot, and can be used all day.

I'm not exactly sure how detect illusions works and what all it dispells, but I'm rather certain it simply works like the spell detect illusion. I dont think it will dispell images or misleads, but it will dispell mirrored image and all kinds of invisibility. And yes, to activate this ability, simply look for traps. I think that there is a certain thief in a certain astral prison who detects illusion and becomes very annoying. Unfortunately, I think tactics patched this.

Detect Illusions will dispel any illusion, and, more importantly, ignores SI

ivination which can be very useful against Tactics mages. Only problem is, the range is kind of limited so you have to stand dangerously close to the one whose illusions you want to dispel.

ahh but a high HiS and MS you can get close enough as long as you have the cloak of non detection...

You can easly have 100% DI with a PC theif before you leave CI, though you'll be slightly gimped while you work on your other skills, but if you dual to a mage type it comes in handy for Improved invisible opponets.

How do you use the DI while staying hidden? It always struck me as takign forever to activate (I assume it's a full round) so that you'd be visisble as soon as it came into play.

Make sure you're hidden when the detect activates, it will take a while to activate, but you'll be hidden for most of that.
