Highest backstab damage ever?

I just did a backstab for 568 damage with Celestial Fury +3

You were playing on a higher difficulty level than Core. The damage bonus also applies when you whack your own party members.

Taking this into account, the highest possible legitimate backstab using no mods except the Grandmastery Fix, and assuming you entered a fit of insanity and you decide to backstab your own party member on Insane Difficulty, would be...

Does some quick calculations.

...

Champion: Assassin->Fighter = 896 Dmg
Runner-Up: ToB NPC dualled to Thief = 856 Dmg
Consolation: Kensai->Thief = 816 Dmg

Dundee, does the assassin>fighter dual include a stolen clerics symbol, Quietus +4, Celestial Fury and grand mastery, or are we using a certain staff?

Not really, unless you need more STR.

CFury is a LOUSY backstab weapon.
Using a certain staff( including taking into account its' bugged damage).

Looks like I was even more vague. Refer to my first post in this thread again. He is the runner-up.

Hmm... unless. Come to think of it, wouldn't the damage from DA double due to the Insane Difficulty as well? In that case, he would deal 1056 Dmg, snatching top spot from the Assassin->Fighter. Not too sure about this though.

what about the Kai ablity of the kensai, you can ganrentee max damage if you use that combo, while all the others rely total on luck..
