Hi all

Just started to solo a sorceror but I am having difficulty with traps. Is there anyway in which I can negate their effects and see where they are. I am fairly new to BG2 and have only got as far as the underdark with my normal party.I've discovered stoneskin helps to a certain degree but when I am poisoned I seem to die.

Carry antidotes, 'nuff said.

And you should not be soloing if this is your first time.

Stoneskin is your friend

And try carrying potions that negate poison.

Stoneskin, like Dace said, but Mirror Image will also give you a chance against things like those poisoned barbs. As for the Maze and Imprisonment traps... Do you have Spell Immunity?

Mirror image is the best defense. You can then stroll though the overwhelming majority of traps without losing any hitpoints at all, and stoneskin will help with those. As I remember, there was only one trap under spellhold that gave me any trouble.

Hmm... You probably should have used spoiler tags for mentioning that area... But for the record, nobody's able to disarm that trap. People just have to walk around it.

Stoneskin+Mirror Image+(SI: Abjuration) is a perfect defense. Stoneskin is on 24/7.

Hmmm...soloing a sorcerer when new at the game. If you are really dead-set on doing it, be my guest. But I can say that soloing is very difficult for a newer player, and there are plenty of mistakes to be made with sorcerer spell selection if you do not know the spell system (and the opposition you will be facing). I would honestly recommend playing with a well-rounded party and no sorcerer until you get things down, but it is your game, and if you really want the challenge then enjoy.

Oh, and Xen nailed it. Those three spells together equal total defense against traps. Of course, if you didn't select those...

Welcome to IW

everybody's covered the spells but if you're still in trouble with poison it is possible to sleep (as in 'rest') as soon as you get poisoned and you'll wake up all healed and non-poisony

its not pretty but it works
