Imoen's level (Chapter 4) **Spoilers**

Everytime I've gotten Imoen back in my games, she's been far behind the rest of the party in experience. While being somewhat behind is to be expected to a certain degree (I've been adventuring, she's been having her soul taken away), I've heard she can start out at higher than 90,000 XP in the Wizard class (8th level) which is where she always seems to be when I get her (and as I said, this is about 2 or 3 levels behind the rest of the party).

If Imoen can indeed be had at a higher amount of XP and a higher level, what level does my party need to be at?

my experience is that, when you get her back, Imone will be two level lower than your PC if single-classed. If multi-class, a level lower than your PC's highest class level; if dual, a level lower than your PC's current class level. I'm not sure how it works exactly, but I think her level/exp is adjusted according to the PC, but not to the whole party.

She's definitely lower than your party (especially far lower than the fighter type since fighters level up faster); however, she's higher than she departed in the end of chapter 1 How the game works is that Imone will be useful and servicible in the rest of SoA and will turn quite powerful into ToB even she's few levels lower than the party when you take her back.

IIRC, there are only 3 versions of the Spellhold Imoen--she is at Mage levels 8, 9, and 11, respectively. So saying that she's always "X amount of EXP behind the PC / the party average" isn't really accurate.

My solution to the problem: Haul ass to Spellhold. If you get there quickly, it's literally impossible for her to be way behind. In my typical game with Imoen, she's only half a level behind Nalia or Edwin.

well, I checked the save game, in the game I completed last week, when I got Imone back, she was lvl 12.

ADD: and another save game shows that she's lvl 13 the same lvl with my dual class PC. well, I was wrong about the lvl thing as well. but it's definitely not just 8,9, and 11 in my games.

Where did you get this info from? I'm not doubting it, I'd just like to know the rule.

Define "haul ass." I'm afraid of getting there, and having no weapons that can harm certain monsters, or just being underpowered for the Underdark.

My wizard slayer hauled ass to Spellhold by doing the circus tent, Mencar Pebblecrusher, and Improved Copper Coronet. But you don't have to buy much gear to do that. If you're not soloing, the de'Arnise keep and Trademeet are both decent for gold and experience. Just have a few +3 or greater weapons (or Phantom Blade, Melf's Minute Meteors, and other spells that hit as +3 or greater weapons) and a few items that guard against status changes (stun, fear, etc.) are also nice, but not necessary.

The only way I know of to get her at her highest level is to get to Spellhold as fast as practically possible. When I picked Immy up in my latest game, she was level 13. That's as high as she gets, I think. The trick is to keep the party's level down where she is so there won't be such a big difference in party levels.

I went through all the "Imoens" in Shadowkeeper, and ruled out all those that had the wrong picture, incorrect stats, only 1 Thief level, weird items like a Ring of Invisibility, etc., and this is what's left, a list of all the Imoens that might at one time be likely to be actually recruitable, with the most probable in bold.

FILENAME.cre, Thief level / Mage level, (anything in Inventory).

DPIMO01.cre: 7/8
IMOEN10.cre: 7/8 (Imoen's Belt)

IMOEN6.cre: 6/10 (Imoen's Belt, & the equipment she had at the start of BG1, minus the Studded Leather Armor and the Wand of MM)

finimoen.cre: 7/24 (boosted STR & DEX, ToB equipment)

teardropmina, I'm not saying you didn't pick up a Level 12 Imoen, but I will say that you might have picked up a Level 11 or 13 and simply made a mistake.

I got back to that save, and yes, it was a lvl 13 Imone just like the one in the other save. Guess my eyes didn't function properly then [img]tongue.gif[/img]
