firstly talk to the knights in the front room... they'll ask you for help.
someone else should approach you after you talk to them. mostly people will come to you when you have something to do for your strongholds.... either that or just check in and talk to whoever is there from time to time EDIT: Ps.... There are other quests associated with the sphere and they dont have any apparent connection to the nights, so I guess that woshisname will show up in about a week and things will proceed as normal. But the scripting might depend on the knights quest in some way. Just see how it goes.

I wish that the Stronghold quests were triggered sooner, it would save alot of clicking on the rest button over and over again infront of the appropriate person.

Yeah, but they only take a few days with a full party and some of the triggers take weeks.
