I have been playing a game with my party and my main character who is a bard. Doing good is not always easy and I was getting bored of running erands for everyone. Being of the courious nature I am. I decided to lead my party into some protected house in the temple district. There I picked a fight with some old guy and I ran into a bunch of monsters. They all died, but i noticed that when I looked at my sword (cant remember name, found at city gates, kills undead, has special ability to cast something) but anyways I looked at it and it had like 3241 charges. Whats up with that?

Yep, that's a bug. Creatures known as Nishruu and Hakeashars have a unique ability: Each time they hit an opponent in melee combat, they drain one of the victim's memorized spells, and/or drain charges from items that use charges, such as Wands. Sometimes, if they hit you more than once, the number of charges on the item can go below zero, and wrap around to some stupidly high number. Installing the official patch and the Baldurdash fixpack will correct this.
And yes, there is a Hakeashar in the Guarded Compound. A quick & dirty solution might be simply to Rest--this should probably reset Daystar to 1 charge per day, as it's supposed to be.

Or take advantage of the bug and sell daystar with 3241 charges. Then buy it back for a fraction of the price with a single charge
