I know this has been answered before sometime ago but i forget. I just want to know what gets transferred over from bg to bg2. Do you still retain all weapons and items or just certain ones?
I plan on ordering bg2 and i was just wondering because if you do retain all the weapons/items i plan to go back before the final save and go collect stuff i haven't already. Thanx.

You don't get anything transferred unless you cheat. There are a few things that are in the game anyway, regardless if you import your character. These are the Sword of Chaos, the Helm of Balduran and the Metaspell Influence amulet.

NOTE: WITHOUT CHEATING YOU CAN GET UR ITEMS. before the act pops up in SOA, you can pause the game and click on your character. He'll have all of ur items, then just put them on the ground, and you got ur items back!!!!!

Dont do that, it ruins the game.

Well, it DOES unbalance the game, but there are worse things you could do.

I believe the gold pantaloons are also in the dungeon if your character had them on him.

In general, mage spells will be lost, proficiencies have to be reentered and BG1 sound files are now incomplete.

hmmm...so how unbalanced does it get if i do do what Sir Jorlon suggested? i mean, does it make the to game too easy to beat? I just ordered bg2 and should be getting it in a few days... but i do want it to be a challenge though. I've heard from some people that bg2 was easier to beat if you play with the transferred characters from bg1. Is this true? Should i just start a new game with new characters then? Just wondering because i'd like to continue using the same group from bg1 without ruining the difficulty.

Well, put it this way. If you gave all of ur guys main items to ur guy, and do what i said to do, you'd kicka**. Lets see, in that game, full-plate is like 10000 to buy. Plus all the other +3 and +2 items, I'd say you'd be mighty powerful.

Only in the beginning. Later you find things that beat all BG2 items by quite a bit, in my current BG2 party almost everyone is using +3 items and full plate armor. But it would ruin the first few quests, for sure.

Hm. I heard that (barring Sir Jorlon's demi-cheat) all your items are lost, except the Golden Pantaloons, BUT you can find them again very soon, BUT they are very well hidden. Any items you got off Drizzt are gone forever, but he still remembers that you robbed/killed him (if you did so) in BG1. And the Helm of Balduran IS back, but you have to go on another quest to get it.
