I admit that spellcasters are not my favorite characters (sorry Dundee). Part of the problem deals with figuring out what spells do, given their explanation. Glitterdust is a perfect example. According to the description it can blind but also reveals/shows invisible characters. Now I've used this spell on 2 different occasions and have not seen it do anything.

With both Neb in the abandoned house and the rune assasin in the bottom floor of the tanner's (both in the Bridge District) they have "gone invisible" and casting glitterdust, not only doesn't blind them, it doesn't show them either. If I use true sight they are right where the glitterdust spell was enacted.

What am I missing or not understanding?

What's not mentioned in the spell description is that enemies are also allowed a save against the revealing effect.
If you want to know if your enemy made his save enable "show rolls"
in Gameplay->Feedback menu
and check the Spell Reference if you have trouble with spells

Yeah, spells like this can be more than a little misleading. Alson's spell reference is a great place to check for any little (large) errors the spell description may give you.

glitter dust is actually a great spell...

all friendly (won't affect your own party) area effect disabling spells are great...even emotion hopeless-ness which doesn't work at all (almost) in tob is a great spell...

the trick is to maximize effects...use glitterdust volleys on low level enemies, a lot of them at once...

for example, a spell sequencer or minor sequencer used against beholders can work wonders...because you're hitting many targets at the same time, probability will tell you you're going to affect some of them at the least...and using in a sequencer maximizes the chance for some of it to stick...in spell sequencer, try malison, glitter, glitter

almost all spells will have a chance of being saved, or resisted...the trick is to use sequencer type spells to punch thru the saves, using malison, or punch thru the resistance, using lower resistance or pierce shield, or use on a crowd of enemies, making each monster roll to save, and hopefully effecting some of them...then your tanks rush in to kill the monster that's disabled, and move on to the next target...

If you do a greater malison, a glitterdust, and another glitterust in a sequencer, would the greater malison take affect before the glitterdut hits the target? Wouldn't they both occur at the same time, causing the malison to not make a difference there?

to my experience, putting malison first always works...

From what I've always seen, it resolves the spells in the order they were placed in the sequencer/trigger/chain contingency. Thus, as long as you put the malison first, it should take effect first, then the two glitterdusts after that.

i believe the sequencer fires them in the order that youve put them in, with a few micro-seconds delay after each other. just enough for the malison to effect. though beware, if you put a spell with a slow moving animation and one with a faster animation, i believe the faster one will hit first, regardless of order. For example, fire arrow(fast anim.) will hit first, and chaos(slow anim.) will hit second, reagardless of order...

add]also note that you cannot place a defensive and offensive spell in the sequencer and fire it in hopes of the all spells taking effect. if you target an enemy, the def. spells will not launch. if you target yourself, well, youll be hurt from the off. spell(unless its party/neutral friendly)
