My brother-in-law installed BG2 last night and, when he tried to play, discovered that Imoen's quick slots would "dance" back and forth between their defaults and the spell selection slots (the mouse pointer would also alternate between the default and the spell casting pointer). Thinking that this might be a bug that has been addressed before, we then installed TOB, Bioware's official patch, and the Baldurdash fix pack; unfortunately, this did not solve his problem.

Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hmm, hasnet happend to me before...but what I would do is uninstall everything and start afresh installing everything back in in cluding the patches.

HMMM I think it may have something to do with Irenicusses dungeon possible. If i where you i would ignore it for now and come back to the problem later on in the game. I dont want to spoil the game for you but let me give you some advice *you can do with out her spells for now, you will need them in the future if you decide to keep her*...hope that didnt spoil to much, thats y i didnt put a tag on it.

It might be the AI. Turn the party AI (the little lantern button in the bottom right corner) off, it might solve the problem.

Lord, how would the AI affect the mouse pointer? The mouse shows the icons based on what you the player choose to do, not what the character's AI is doing. As far as Desmuna's issue. I can't think of what the problem might be. Try messaging Black Isles tech support and hope beyond all chances that you get a useful response. That is, if no one who can help shows up.

Don't worry about spoiling me. I've been through Chateau Irenicus more times than I care to count. This is just the first time that I've ever encountered this problem on a new install.

I already did this and it failed to solve the problem, but thanks for the suggestion.

I'm afraid not. Actually, my brother-in-law's system was originally the same as mine, and I've never had this problem on my system. His keyboard and mouse are different, but they're not wireless.

Another symptom that I've noticed is that it's very hard to hear any voices, although the other sound effects seem to work just fine. In addition, one can't right click on the party formation icons in order to change them.

I just spent two hours at his place trying to fix the problem with no success. I even uninstalled his game and reinstalled it using my discs on the off chance that he had been sold corrupted software, but no luck. I suspect that there's some kind of hidden conflict with something else he has installed.
