sh^t just got deep! (spoilers)

I was wandering through the underdark, and to my surprise, was ambushed by the mind flayers. I am now in their captivity, and just a bit worried. Those things are very annoying to fight! i almost always lose a party member to them. anyways, should i be here? i haven't done much of anything in the underdark yet. killed a few monsters and explored, no quests. so, do i reload, or am i good?

Dron-Cah, this is my only advice to you. Play it through. Or rather roleplay it through. Have fun with it.

Well, you did wander smack into the middle of their "city"; after the next "event" that happens to you, try opening doors.

This is probably one of the toughest areas in the Underdark, but don't let that discourage you. Give it a try, but keep that save game from before you entered just in case.

There are a ton of mind flayer tactics posted on this site; just hit "search" and type in "mind flayer". They can be a real pain if not prepared. Chaotic Commands protects against their psionics, as do some potions (the one that allows you to make all of your saving throws automatically comes to mind; I always mix it up with the one with a similar name). For their intelligence drain, the best bet is not to get hit at all (i.e. get AC for your tank up as high as possible), but Potions of Genius (raise intelligence by 4 points) can help, too. I usually put all my best AC stuff on my main tank (with Chaotic Commands), use summons that are unaffected by mental attacks (undead, mordy's sword, invisible stalker, etc.), and have my other characters hide out in a safe room while the tank clears most of the place. Just watch the tank's intelligence score; if it drops too low, get out of there, and hang out a bit until it comes back.

woo-hoo! I have found a tactic that is soooooo simple, but yet i haven't heard of anyone using it! Web. Yes, so simple as web or entangle. it worked on the last mind flayer i took on, and he was held the entire time! just pound away with those missles. As you can tell, i'm excited. Yaaaay!!!

alright, i just tried entangle and its a no-go, but web still works. oh well, just thought i'd give a heads up.

May I just say something about topic names? No, this is not about the cursing. Instead, can people stop making posts like: 'I need help', or, 'Noob Question', I'm knee deep in trouble', etc. I know it's really not a big deal, but it kinda gets annoying when you just see topics like that.
