#1 - Purchased the BGII collectors edition and no booklets, is there a site where I can read or print them off (SOA & TOB)?

#2 - Finished BGI, can't seem to import my character into BGII (only ones available for importing are BGII already created characters), I am computer retarded so any easy step by step instructions would be greatly appreciated. I figure instructions may be in the booklet (see #1 above).

Thanks in advance.
BTW - Really great site.

1.) WELCOME TO IWF
2.) The manuals are on the CDs in PDF (=Adobe Acrobat) format. You can download the Adobe Acrobat Reader for free (if it isn't on the CD) and then watch/print them.
3.) You need to copy your Character files from BG1 to BG2
a.) load your last save from BG1
b.) go to the character screen and click EXPORT
c.) save the character with any name you want (e.g. myhero)
d.) open the BG1 character folder
e.) copy the according files (e.g. myhero.chr, myhero.bio) the .bio file is optional as it is just the biography text
f.) paste them to your BG2 character folder
g.) start a new game and a new character
h.) on character selection immediately select IMPORT
i.) you'll now have to make some adjustments in proficiencies and maybe select a kit for your char
j.) done

Welcome to Ironworks

Why do you need booklets? Tutorial is better.

Click New Game->click Import Charcter->choose BG 1->choose character->import him/her...

Also chech the Forum FAQ for patches.

Don't like patches, I usually figure by the time the dual collection comes out anything wrong has been fixed and there is no need for patches (and that installing them could screw up the game). Am I mistaken in my assumption?
Thanks for the welcome and the info.

no, that's not the case. With ToB, you don't need to patch SoA, yet, you still need to patch ToB. SoA/ToB isn't as "old" as BG1, and so there's not an "un-patchable" edition yet.

ADD:
actually, the easiest way to import your BG1 character to SoA is to copy and paste the final save game of BG1 (or any save game for that matter) to the save folder of SoA. then, in creating new character, choose import, and click on "saved game" (not character file), and go find your BG1 saved game...

Sometimes this is the case, sometimes a re-release is the original version with the patches included on disc. Very rarely a re-release has new programming that makes the origional patches dangerous, this is the case with the BG1 2(3?) disc version.

BG2 needs the official ToB patch installed. Also the baldurdash unofficial patch is widely regarded as standard, in that many of the bugs we see here are fixed by baldurdash. It also removes a few exploits and suchlike. Its virtualy impossible for a sane person to screw up the install enough to damage the game, so dont worry about that.

So where is the best place to downlaod these patches? And are the two mentioned above (TOB official and baldurdash) the only recommended ones?
Is there a place on Ironworks that lists all patches and what they do?

I'm assuming that if something goes wrong I can always just reinstall the game.

Thanks for the info and sorry for all the questions.

Which TOB official patch is recommended? I'm thinking the Bioware one.
There are an awful lot of fixes at Baldurdash, are they all needed?
Could I play and enjoy the game with no fixes what-so-ever? I didn't do any for BGI and it always played fine.
Once again thanks for putting up with all the questions.
